I have a pretty big announcement to make.. uhh
I will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology for the next 4 years of my life (maybe 5 if i can't handle it)
i just came back from a visit to it, and before i was on the fence about it but the trip convinced me. gtech is by far the most beautiful campus i have ever seen hands down.. and i mean thats in competition with all the california campuses that are practically on the beach and claremont which is called the most beautiful, but i love the architecture. it's all brick with a few modern buildings thrown in but with brick accents. even the stadium is brick. bringing the olympics to ga tech in 1996 was probably the best decision that school has ever made they brought the most amazing facilities there including the largest aquatic center/gym ive ever seen its breathtaking its even got a rock climbing wall for them athletes. the campus just seems so cozy id love to live there. the building id be goign to for my 3rd and 4th year classes is really cool its a modern building that was just built is completely environmentally friendly it runs off its own power. its the Advanced Computing Building which is also the electrical engineering home
http://www.gatech.edu/upload/pr/h187df2251a1ef9bd7475d4fde8b7f7d411080169394.jpg i have come to grips, yet am still terrified of the academics because they are going to kick my ass. the avg gpa of the freshman class, asians n all is 2.8 out of 4.. which is a tad ridiculous. and a lot of calc professors are on probation because they fail too many students. the thing that really won my vote is how highly recruited gtech is. its one of the most heavily recruited campuses in the country with over 400 corporations looking for people every year, and the avg starting salary at tech is 50k which is about 10k above the national avg. after i get through these 4 years of hell its all smooth sailing.. also i feel like the student life would actually be really cool. they do a lot of stuff outside of smath and engineering like they have the largest intramural athletics org in the country (not to mention the third largest turf field in the world which is a bit ridic)not to mention its the 4th best engineering college in the united states, that helped with my decision over ucla which is only 14th
the other thing is this program called the freshman experience which is taken part by about 2000/2400 freshman in which they all they live together and have the same classes and do a bunch of shit together. and also the thing that looks really attractive is they have free tutoring, from 8 to midnight every day of the week IN the dorms so you dont even have to leave the building if you have a question on hw. (they also have the second fastest internet connection in the southeast right behind the pentagon at number 1) i cant wait to go there, the people seem pretty normal too or at least i feel like i could find some normal people. not to mention atlanta is a beautiful city, plus they have publix! so thats a bonus
this on the same day i found out how good ucla is getting, they dropped their acceptance rate to 23% total this year in state included, where 23,000 applicants had gpas over 4. whatever i think ill be happy in atlanta. I'm just happy i finally got this sorted out. I finally know where I want to go after months of indecision, ironically my original first choice i wanted to go to junior year became my ultimate place i ended up going.
