The parties in the weekend did not bring much surprises, no outstanding acts, it was plain cool, really cool, which (unfortunately) IS unusual by itself.
Friday we had our usual, infamous 'B4party' at my place. Regular people showed up, we chatted some, drank some, as usual. Than I changed my style a little bit from the 'green trousered bloke with glasses' one: I used contact lenses instead of glasses, I put two earrings in my left ear (I was not wearing them for about 6 years now!), and put on ALL black clothes! Brand new black trousers which my girlfriend made just for me, a long sleeved, plain black T-shirt and black Sketchers trainers. Of course I was wearing my favourite studded black leatherette bracelet, which really belongs to Agi, but it's always me who wears it.
We went to MPC to wave goodbye to LD50 nights. We met some more friends there, which was really cool. Any given person knew at least half of the others who were there, so the party itself was quite intimate. What I can not praise much is the music, it was 'regular LD50 music'. I did not feel like the DJ's had any concept of what to play, it was not like (which I thought would be) that there will be DJs playing a representation of music styles of the past years, like Zero playing some neofolk, rock and metal, then someone playing gothic music for a while, then an hour of visual kei and other japanese shit by d4m4g3 and Case, then some industrial/EBM/electropop from Waxx and SusyO, and then either it starts again or they play the most popular style for the rest of the night. I rather felt like everyone played everything. We ended up getting pretty drunk, having fun, handcuffing each other and stuff. Must be mentioned that two members of De/Vision were also at the party, getting quite drunk and dancing with us, which was uberkewl! All in all, it was the BEST LD50 party ever IMHO.
Next day was the best part for me. We (or at least me) woke up at around 12:00 on Saturday,
silver_ivy, who slept over at our place, my girlfriend, Katta, and my 'roommate', Steer. We had some breakfast, after which we decided to go to TESCO for some shopping for the evening, but ended up sitting in the living room and chatting for hours! It was very cool.
We headed to TESCO at the time that we told the guests they can arrive at earliest, being quite sure that _NO_FREAKIN_ONE_ will show up. We were right, the first guests phoned us some half an hour later, while we were shopping in TESCO that they are ringing the bell but noone's answering, so Steer ran home for them, leaving the shopping for me and Katta. After we arrived home, we started making dinner for them, which was really funny, and checking all the empty plates afterwards, they liked it! After this some people simply went home, some went to the Cure/Siouxsee tribute party, and the rest of us headed to the De/Vision release night!
silver_ivy and me WON the tickets on a game on LD50! The organisers said that 6 persons took part in the game, in which Ivy and someone else won tickets in the first round, but this other guy could not go to the party, so they held another round, in which I won the second ticket.
About the party I can not say much, it was one of the BEST ever in this music style I went to! It was simply perfect! The organization of it, the line-up, the program, the music... I also met some guys whom I only knew from IRC or mailing lists, which was really cool, they were just as friendly, or even more, than on the net. The music the De/Vision guys played were _incredible_! Just a taster of what they DARED to play at such a party party (Thomas was the more daring I think):
Prodigy - out of space
Chemical Brothers - hey boy hey girl
Underworld - born slippy
Chemical Brothers - setting sun
Stakka Bo - my bushido!!!
I haven't ever heard My Bushido played anywhere except for my living room, and Thomas even shared my opinion that actually the whole album is wonderful, not just this song!
Regarding futurepop and electropop stuff I liked the set of
estee_ the most, she played many of my favourite songs. It was a petty we got freakin tired by about 4:00 or something and we went home, but I heard the party lasted about half an hour more. Girl, you KNOW how to rock a party!
On Sunday, as a 'reward' we slept a lot, had some nice conversations and tea with my gf at home, then went to the Zoo for fun. This was our last free day for a while though, because that night we started packing: I have to leave my flat by this weekend.
