I don't post often, but I post at least every time I switch jobs. And I'm there again. I quit Sanoma in the end of April, and started working for a small marketing agency in May. Sweet as hell. The office itself is downtown, just 3 tube stations from our flat. They're (we..) going to switch around autumn to another one, but it will even be one tube station closer to us, in the center of the city. The firm is small, there are 9 people in it right now including me. It also means that I'm the only project manager, and formally called the customer relationship director :D
It's pretty strange, but easy to get used to leaving home at 17:30 and just relax after that. The work is just the amount that it can be finished in 8 hours, and hopefully it won't change. The salary is more than what I was offered at Sanoma, so I can't complain about that either. Not to mention the chances that I will become one of the owners of the company itself after spending a given time with them. History repeating... And a nice little Macbook tops it all :)
The company policy is that they use only Macs, so I had no other choice either. We bought the cheapest Macbook for me, because I will only use it for "office applications", so it will do. Getting used to it was a major pain in the back, but I'm loving it now.
Being very happy with this, I plunged into yet another hobby, but it's not that much of a hobby than a sport: mountain biking. I acquired a bike about a month ago from a friend (one of the owners of my new firm, a long time friend of mine), and went to work with it nearly every day this week. The breakthrough came this weekend, when a friend of mine, who was a bike racer once (though on road races) invited me to the hills. We met near Moszkva square, then followed the trail of tram 56 on a paved bike road to Huvosvolgy, from where we cut up to the Harmashatarhegy hill, climbed around it on really cool mountain trails in the woods, touched a beautiful airport for sailplanes, and a bit later a starting point for paragliders on the top of the hill, climbed a bit more up, then descended on the other side of the hill a bit over Szepvolgyi ut, and arrived to the last station of tram 17, from where we took another paved bike road home. The whole stuff was 2,5 hours from start to end, during which we biked approximately 20kms, at least half of which was on rough mountain roads.
I felt like I was tortured, every piece of my body cried for rest, but it was a really healthy experience, all these exercises up in the forest, in good, healthy air and so beautiful locations. I want to repeat it every weekend if possible, and as soon as I receive my last salary from Sanoma, I'll probably invest into a helmet at least.
