I should really stop harassing Richard about his spider fear.

I just went to bring the laundry down to the basement and laid my eyes upon the largest spider I have ever seen. I will admit, I trembled, I whimpered, I nearly cried. it probably wasn't a huge spider to some, but it was by far the largest I had ever seen. not just long-legged either, but stalky and meaty... the stuff of nightmares.

I brought a vaccuum cleaner to poke the thing with the end of it, as it was in a spot that was too close for comfort for me to go back and forth to the washing machine. when I first poked it, it fell onto the ground (it had been sitting on the door that leads outside) and didn't move. I thought maybe it was dead, considering it had been in the same position for an hour and a half anyway. I poked it again to maybe murder it and just be sure (I feel such a hypocrite now, seeing as I scolded Richard for doing the same thing), and it suddenly scuttled closer, although into a corner by the stair that makes me feel slightly more comfortable about it. I feel so much safer having it on the ground than a few feet up, sitting on the door, for some reason. but it's still there, and it hasn't gotten any smaller.

really, I'm not usually afraid of spiders, but this one has instilled such uneasiness and fear in me. and I still have to go back down there.

waaah
