you know what pisses me off?
people who do a Google image search for photos of a certain person, then take the first one that shows up, open it up in photoshop, apply about three basic filters, and then put it up on the internet and tell people it's a "multimedia painting" (and saying they did it in WATERCOLOR and CRAYON and whatever else they can think of at that second) that took them "three months" to do.
UGGGGH! how disrespectful is that to people who SPEND THEIR WHOLE LIVES working really hard at art so that they can do a beautiful multimedia portrait with traditional mediums and create something that actually requires skill? some people's whole lives are art and they put a lot of effort into it, and people who decide to be lazy attention whores take a great big shit on all their hard work. AT LEAST TRY TO PHOTOSHOP IT CONVINCINGLY.
this charming piece of work did exactly what I just talked about using
this photo of Regina Spektor and posting it on Deviantart. they deleted the "art" shortly after I commented, calling them out on it, and of course, they didn't reply. I left them the following comment on their page:
It's really sad that there are truly talented artists who can work in traditional mediums on this website, and then there are people like you who take a giant shit on them by trying to pass off five seconds in photoshop as a multimedia "painting" that "took you three months". That's pathetic and it doesn't fool anybody, so stop being an attention whore and disrespecting people who have actually spent their lives working hard to become good at art.
seriously, first of all, it's copyright infringement to take someone else's photo and pass it off as YOUR 100% ORIGINAL WORK, even if you altered it a little bit in photoshop. second of all, AUGH, WTF. go rot in hell.
