School Started Yesterday
I've only had 2 classes so far, but I'm feeling pretty positive about the whole thing. Animation Studio is my last 2D class and there's only 10 people in it. I like everyone there, I'm in there with Jessica, and it's taught by Billy Burger, who is a wealth of information and hilarious. I really thrive in classes like that. My first assignment is a walk cycle and a reaction. I've done tons of walk cycles before, but this time we're not using our own characters. At first people were bummed by this, but I understand why and I'm actually kinda excited about it. Using a character from an established artist means we're using "industry standard" quality characters, who have personalities we didn't create. We now need to create that personality in the walk and there's no room to muddle it up with our own perspectives.
We were given 3 artists to choose from, I chose
ClaireWendling, I've been a long time fan, and her design of the Cowardly Lion from "Ozma";
Sorry, to see the big version you'll have to navigate her site into the galleries-animations-Ozma. She's disabled short cuts. It's worth it though! Beautiful work.
Hopefully I can get it to portfolio quality, I'll try to post my progress.
My second class was Character Animation, a 3D class. Val Mih is the instructor, she's awesome. She used to be the director of academics for my major, but decided she liked teaching more. I'm with Irene and Julie in the class soit's that much better. Yay for people you can trust and help each other out!
Speaking of Irene, I helped her move some of her stuff to her new place in the Sunset District over the break. It's a purple house with pink carpet, it's kind of awesome. I'm making her a purse out of material she found, and I'm cooking something up for Bianca as well. *Thumbs up*
My class tomorrow is PreProduction with Trey Gallagher, awesome guy too. I know I'm in thereat least with Jenninja(Jenna) and Jessica, maybe Dianne. Yay!
Coffee
My coffee maker bit the dust. A $10 replacement from Walgreens made me happy.
Weight Falls Off in the Fall
I LOVE fall. I'll say it over and over again, IloveitIloveitIloveit. The colors, the smells, the weather(also in winter), the holidays, the FOOD. Despite the over-eating holidays of Fall and winter I don't find that I gain any weight in the winter and if anything lose it. Part of it I think is that I'm drawn to high fiber foods and hot liquids during this time of year. I love soups and hearty stews with vegetables in cold weather and I'm not usually drawn to vegetables year round. Squash is high in fiber and I only really love winter squashes (butternut, acorn, and pumpkin top the list). Apples(also high in fiber) are available all year too, but again there's just something about the weather and ciders poping up everywhere that I just want them more. I drink water more than anything, but hot drinks like tea take the place of sugarful treats like soda. I don't seek out tree nuts, but things like walnuts and other good proteins and oils are more prevalant so if I'm going to have them at all, now is the time.
I'm physically more active this time of year. I walk more, I travel more, all that good stuff. Also, keeping in tradition with the rest of my family, as evidence of all the summer babies (my brother, sister, myself, and most of my cousins are July/August babies) I'm far more "intimate" when it's cold. I don't have a mating season, but I do like staying warm ^_^ Nah, to be honest, there's something magical and romantic about this time of year. My mom is a very happy and loving person by nature, but the holidays always make her glow that much more. Without a doubt Christmas is her favorite holiday, in fact she's spoken more than once about working in or having a Christmas shop. I think growing up some of that glow rubbed off. The anticipation of seeing people that happy must have had some kind of automatic mental reaction with me, like a dog knowing the sound to a treat bag from the other end of the house.
