If you are thinking about getting a decent, good value, non-apple MP3 player try the Creative Zen, currently on special offer from Amazon for £100!
This MP3 player has been reduced in price over the past 2 months from about £250, down to £180, down to £130, now its only £100 for a 16gb player that does photos, videos, voice recording etc. I got mine as a belated christmas present just before easter and it's great. No moving parts to break, and 16GB is plenty enough for all your needs. It's also expandable by SD card, but the OS doesn't navigate the SD card in the same way as the main MP3 stash. However I would say its useful for loading up films etc.
The screen is awesome! You couldn't want for better quality - however you will want to buy some better headphones, and a little case to protect it. You can pick these up for about £10 each now and its well worth it.
Some reviews have given it a bad rep - but its worth completing the flash-upgrade to the internal software when you get, to reduce any chance of faults.
