My newest Chinchilla, Bilbo, has been sick for the past few weeks.
Last Thursday I had to take him to the vets for aqn X-ray to check the growth of his teeth. It showed up root inflammation, which is quite bad for a chinchilla (its a slow, painful, nasty killer). He now has to be syringe fed food and painkillers each day, and gradually changed over to a more fibrous diet to make his teeth wear down better.
To top it off I had to take him to an emergency vets yesterday because his eyes were gummed shut with gunk. He has conjuctivitis, possibly caused by the anaesthetic and generally feeling rubbish :( Poor little guy. (Poor me, the little critter has cost me more in vets bills than I like to think about!)
This was after I spent half the day heaving my guts up because I drank too much vodka the night before. Possibly only about 10 units, but it made me seriously ill - so I am now teetotal until ..? because this is the 3 time it has happened in about 5 weeks - I think my body is telling me something!
Joyful new year everyone! :)
