Hello, and thank you for offering to write one of my Yuletide requests! I am thrilled to be participating in Yuletide for the first time; I tend to write and/or lurk in a lot of large fandoms, so I am getting very excited about writing and receiving gifts in the fandoms that get a little less attention. ;)
General Info About Me: While I tend to write mostly slash and sometimes gen, I enjoy reading across a wide spectrum of genres; basically, if a story is character driven and uses pretty words and phrases, I will give it a try and I will enjoy it.
Laundry list of likes (including but not limited to): trust, intimacy, misunderstandings, light kink, genre-bending, surprises, AUs, character studies, friends-to-lovers, lovers-to-friends, first-time, end-up-together, future!fic, prequels, trope-fic
Laundry list of dislikes: hardcore kink, dark!fic, heavy angst, melodrama, non-con, explicit horror, excessive drinking/drug use
Request 1: Elvis Cole Novels by Robert Crais (Elvis Cole and Joe Pike, slash or gen)
IMO, there are few books in any genre that feature the depth of feeling between Elvis Cole and Joe Pike. When telling people about these books, the first thing I say is, "you need to know that Joe and Elvis are completely in love with each other." ;) I adore how they balance each other, how their personalities compliment, how Elvis cooks dinner for Joe and Joe takes care of the cat, how they have each other's backs and *know* that, unwaveringly.
Whether you'd like to write slash or something gen, I'm up for either as long as it features the intimacy and intensity that characterizes their relationship. I'd prefer non-AU for this one, and it could be set at the beginning of their partnership or at some point in the future - it's really up to you!
Ideas, if you need 'em (but feel free not to use these if you don't):
- five times Elvis saved Joe
- their first case together
- injury rehabilitation
Request 2: Teen Wolf RPF (Dylan O'Brien/Tyler Hoechlin)
So, I'm just going to jump into the shallow end of the pool right now and say that I requested this fandom because Dylan and Tyler are so very stunningly attractive and they'd look wonderful naked together. I've had this pairing in mind since I saw the video of Dylan catching for Tyler throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game, and fell down the rabbit hole thereafter, entranced by their goofy faces and obvious friendship.
I would be delighted to read a baseball!AU, as it's not too far out of the realm of possibility, given that both boys have real-life baseball experience, but non-AU (inasmuch as such pairings can be non-AU) would be great too! I have no particular preference as to topping and bottoming (switching, yay!), but NGL, at this moment I've been thinking a lot about bottom!Tyler. ;)
Ideas, if you need 'em (but feel free not to use these if you don't):
- Tyler keeps getting inappropriate erections while filming physical scenes with Dylan
- College!AU - Tyler's a senior, Dylan's a freshman, they're both on the baseball team
- A game of "I never" gets out of hand
The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King (Roland Deschain, Cuthbert Allgood)
I enjoy these books so much I re-read them at least once every two years and I feel like I get something new out of them each time. The epic scope, the literary references, the flawed and amazing characters, the landscape, the worldbuilding, all of it is enchanting to me.
When Wizard and Glass came out, I remember being put off at first. Where are Eddie and Susannah and Jake and Oy? But as I read it, I grew to love the Western-fantasy setting, the political intrigue, the glimpses into Roland's life before, and I wanted more.
I am hoping that for this request, you could provide me with a little bit of Roland character study/backstory, set at any time prior to the fall of Gilead. Whether it's the aftermath of the events of Wizard and Glass, or the end, at Jericho Hill, I'd love to see more of Roland-then, of Roland with his crew from those days - Alain, Jamie, and especially Cuthbert Allgood. Slash or gen, whatever floats your boat!
Ideas, if you need 'em (but feel free not to use these if you don't):
- every once in a while, Roland just... stops talking
- they haven't come to blows since they were old enough to take Cort's, but they're fighting like children now, grown men rolling around in the dirt, not doing the damage their capable of, but doing enough to hurt
- the day Roland inherits the guns his father wore
