Historical Fiction Challenge

May 23, 2003 11:02

Okay, I am issuing a fanfic challenge. Personally, I like lots of fanfare and hurrahs, but I'm not sure how to go about issuing a challenge with exploding fireworks on my LJ. So I guess I'll just spell it out.

This is the HISTORICAL FICTION CHALLENGE for Smallville fanfiction. The idea is to take the pairing of your choice (*crosses fingers and hopes for Clark and Lex*) and transport them to a historical setting. This can be done in a variety of ways: having the characters doing sexy little role playing, or you can actually set the story in another time and place, like complete alternative universe.

For example:

Ancient Rome-- Lex is Caeser and Clark is the gladiator he falls for (For the love of God, PLEASE somebody write this!!)

17th Century France-- Lex is lord of the manor and Clark is his stable boy (paging Thamiris!!!)

World War I--Clark signs on with the army to discover he has the hots for his commanding officer, Lex.

Oh, you know, there are millions of ideas. Because remember-- just because Clark and Lex aren't doing it on the show, doesn't mean they aren't doing it in our heads!!

Since this is the first holiday weekend of the summer, I thought I'd issue it now and leave it open until the July 31. (Please note the deadline has been extended. It is no longer closing on July 4)

We will also be accepting historical manips for you artists out there.

Anyway, I hope many of you partipate, and I really want to encourage new authors to participate as well. I think it will be really fun.

The lovely and talented jacynrebekah has set up a page to host the completed stories. You can either link to any stories from this journal entry or link them to the site directly.

SMALLVILLE HISTORICAL FANFICTION CHALLENGE HOMEPAGE

Oh, and obviously I want this to be open to the entire Smallville Fandom (or anyone who wants to write a Smallville story) but I have my default set on Friends Locked and I don't know how to change it. So, help me get the word out there writers. Tell a friend. (Edited to add: Hee-- the wise isilya has taught me how to make this entry public. She is very very smart.)

Everyone is welcome to participate!! Please link to your stories below!

Have a great memorial day weekend everybody.
