Today is Saturday. I had a "speshul" writers' meeting for those who could attend as a friend of mine from an online writers' group I'm with is currently visiting here in the Western Cape. She's from the States, so it's a big deal and we had a lovely crazy informal bitching session in general.
One thing that has come out of this is how I'm going to approach running the writing competition with the SA Horrorfest peeps. But more on that later once I've chatted to P&S.
A literary update:
I'm currently busy with the line edits for Khepera Redeemed. OCD that I am, I'm rereading the novel for the nth time and yes, I'm still finding stuff to tweak. I learnt my lesson with Khepera Rising. Even if it kills me, I'm reading the novel over and over again until I'm happy. After this, no structural changes, and galley proofs really isn't the place for hardcore changes.
I've resumed work on The Ironclad Fleet, and I'm happy to say I'm blown away by how much my writing has changed. I'm almost too embarrased to see how much since Khepera Rising.
Not a huuuuuuge surprise but I've sold The Namaqualand Book of the Dead to Lyrical Press. It's not really a "serious" work as such (hence it being a novella and not longer) but it's my five cents' worth about why vampires are bad for you. It's still an important work because it represents a definite shift in my writing, spanning the time between writing Khepera Redeemed and The Ironclad Fleet. Yes. A lot has happened since then.
Editing Schmediting:
Currently I'm making headway on a lot of projects and am also reading a ton of submissions from my authors. Please be patient as I do have a day-job and I like to be absolutely sure about a work before I recommend it for a contract from Lyrical.
And now... I really do have to pry the husband off his computer so we can go buy pizza bases before 9pm. I wants pizza.
