Tired but happy

Sjoe! Well, that went better than I expected. I've just returned from the shoot with awesome photographer Neil le Roux, collaborating with the gorgeous make-up artist Gabby Katz and Tim Lester who's a vocalist in a local band and did a fantastic job pulling off a James Edward Guillaume pose. We shot for a promo, limited-edition print preceding the release of Khepera Rising and all I can say is that things really pulled together. Thanks, guys.

We shot at an old favourite of mine, the abandoned ghost station at Clovelly and the weather played along, so we had good light as well as not much wind. I really don't know which photos I'll choose but I'll await Neil's feedback on his favourites, which I'll arrange to get from him during this week.

These limited set of prints, all of them numbered and signed, will be given away during the months leading up to the release of the novel. Since I won't ever have a physical book to hold in my hands, I figure I'll need to have something to drum up some excitement.

I'm still shaking after the experience and it was absolutely nerve-wrecking for me to put this together. So, kudos to everyone involved. The real hard work will now be for me to put my PhotoShop skills to use to refine the final image. I'm thinking of a duotone in blues but some of the colour shots against the peeling graffitied walls were so filthy gorgeous I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do.

So, ja, onward and upward.

My next shoot will be with the lovely, luscious Alta Louw and it will be vampire themed. Oh, and there will be a call for goth mob. The red wine will flow. More on that later.
