Ack! Stalkers!

It was bound to happen at some point. Stalkers.

Lovely.

If you wind up being in the position where you have to put your name and cellphone number out there in the newspapers in connection with running a writers' guild, ESPECIALLY if it's genre fiction such as F/SF/H then it's a given that you will most likely encounter one or two weirdos who think they're being clever SMSing you some obscure little phrases.

Oh, how charming.

Like I'm going to think you're clever.

It was silly to try to engage in meaningful conversation. At first I thought it was a friend who was jerking my chain a bit. Evidently not.

Ah, well, too bad.

On to other things. I have Chapter Three of Thrown to the Dogs down. Chapter's entitled An unkindness of ravens. I like that title, a lot. I wonder if it would work as the title for the novel, since the theme of the rival biker gang is quite prevalent and they do some rather nasty things.

I will be working on further edits for Khepera Rising, now that my hangover has finally abated. We went out last night but luckily only until 2am. Unfortunately for me, I got a bit carried away from about noon as we'd bought a new bottle of Jim Beam. So, ja... I felt a bit green this morning. Thomas wasn't so lucky.

I've been hanging out on fanfiction.net again now that I've had some uninterrupted computer time (no, I did not poison my husband in order to have this time). Have been thinking a lot about fanfiction. There are arguments that are equally for and against this. I have to admit that I also indulge in this nefarious activity. It's fun. I write a little bit each day while travelling on the train. Not a lot, but only about 500 new words a day. Then I update every one or two weeks.

It's light fluff. I admit it. But I like it.

Which brings me to more fluff. I know the fanfic I write is good. I've had loads of faves for the Anne McCaffrey stuff I've penned. What's stopping me from writing (under a nom de plume, of course) some pulp fiction? There's a publisher that seems to be popular for a range of romance involving supernatural elements et al, printed and ebook. Word count would only be around 60 000 words and there's a story that's lying way back in one of my notebooks that involves a witch and a vampire getting it on in a small Karoo dorpie. Oh, the angst, the drama... Makes me feel all warm and gooey inside.

I do, on occasion, read fluff. I've just picked up The Crow: City of Angels secondhand at a bookshop in Muizenberg. I reckon I can turn my hand at producing fluff of a similar vein, for sh*ts and giggles.

I have two hours on the train every day that can be put to good use.

That being said, I may have to indulge in some LotR rereads soon as I'm considering writing a fanfic...

Ai, will I ever learn?

It's fun, at the very least.

All this being said. I've also got a yen to start another band. I have a guitarist who will fix my bass for me and there's this rather gorgeous lass I know who'll sing. I just want to find out if she's still keen. I just don't have a frigging practice amp that works.
