I've got about fifteen pages to write across two papers, as well as the research it takes for me to come up with material. Both papers have a solid start. One is due tomorrow evening, the other Wednesday afternoon. After that, I have to grade about thirty revised student papers and see if they warrant higher grades.
My reactions to situations like this usually occur in the following phases:
One week before due date(s): OH FUCK WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO START THIS *begins to accumulate research*
4-5 days before due date: *leers at pile of books* *attempts casting of fox's cunning and/or owl's wisdom* *hurls spellbook across room* *massages burnt fingers* *begrudgingly begins flipping through texts*
3-4 days before due date(s): *pushes back chair* "Wow, I should be able to finish these ahead of schedule." *pops in a few classic Buffy eps*
2-3 days before due date(s): *is drawn ridiculously far afield from paper topic* *begins reading research material for fun, forgetting about the paper that must be written* *remembers paper* CHARLES NOOOOO GET OUTTA MY HEAD CHARLES
1-2 days before due date(s): The perfect crystalline panic in my chest usually shatters around this point, and after mangling my insides, grants me a clarity and singularity of mind roughly equivalent to Dubya's just before Operation Iraqi Freedom began. My conviction is pure, my sword is keen...and my professors will probably judge me much more harshly than I can presently imagine.
Now. On to finishing paypars.
