Why do we not Irradiate all food?

Why not indeed?

"Cold pasturization" to use the current industry tag line is safe for food, and more importantly cuts down on 99.39% of bacteria which means that food does not spoil as quickly. As someone constantly vexed by spoiling vegitables, let us get on this, I want my veggies to last a few weeks with no ill effect, and milk which lasts a couple of months. Then we can join the rest of the world in the 1960's!
