Hello ladies!
I had a nice day today. I went to Italian class and learned about descriptive words & the verb for "I have" so I know a lot more things to say! We were talking about nationalities and I had to ask him how to say Swedish because it wasn't on the big list in our book. So then when I got home I taught my mom how to say "Noi siamo Svedese" which means "We are Swedish."
Then I went with my dad to the Chicago Auto Show, which I love going to. AND OMG YOU GUISE THEY HAD A LIFESIZE REPLICA OF BUMBLEBEE FROM TRANSFORMERS. THE CAR WAS IN FRONT OF IT. I put up pictures
here. And also?
this totally made my day. I want one of those signs. There was also a car full of rubber duckies. And at least half the cars were fully equipped with wifi connections.
Okay, I FINALLY finished reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeliene L'Engle and I loved it. I thought the ending was a little rushed and not very well done, but then I remembered 2 things: 1)It is a children's book. This is not written for adults or even teens and therefore needs to be kept simple and move quickly or the kids will get bored. So it makes sense. Also, it needs a happy ending. and 2) It's part of a quartet. You can read this book alone, for sure, which is why the happy ending was there (this isn't His Dark Materials or Harry Potter after all), but they also had those few lines to lead into the next book. Which I will be buying in boxed set at the bargain bookstore for like $10 or some other ridiculously cheap price very soon. And I won't spoil it for you, but let's just say that Meg is the girl I would have loved to be when I was 10. And Calvin is the guy I would have loved to date when I was 14 (or y'know, even now maybe). Charles Wallace is the kid I'd like to live next door, but not to be my brother. Mrs. Whatsit is my hero & I want to meet Aunt Beast.
I picked up my next book at the library today. It is called City of Secrets and is the 4th book in the Stravaganza series by Mary Hoffman. City of Masks is one of my favorite books of all time, so I'm sticking with the series even though book 2 sucked and book 3 was only just "good" and not "great." So...we'll see. I'll let you all know.
Speaking of books, this week we're showing off our bookshelves!
So here are mine. Comment questions of the day:
1. What nationality are you? I'm 50% Swedish, and the rest is a big mess of German, English, PennDutch, & we don't even know what else. I just say I'm Swedish.
2. Do you speak any other languages? (...did I ask this already? I can't remember) I speak English, I've taken 3 years of Spanish, but I can't speak it at all (understand some though), and I'm learning Italian.
3. Who is your favorite transformer (Autobots or Decepticons are acceptable)? My favorite is Starscream. Yeah, Decepticon, I know, but he's awesome and underloved. A very close second is Sideswipe, an Autobot.
4. What do you drive? Or what is your favorite car? I drive a small Saturn & I don't even know the make honestly, it's my mom's old car I started driving last year when I was rear-ended in my van (which I miss so much). My favorite is the Ford F150.
