I'm really enjoying being back at school, at the moment. I think one of the reasons may be because we haven't got maths text books yet, and so have no maths homework! I met my new English teacher yesterday, and she seems quite nice, although she hasn't started teaching us Hamlet yet. My new Latin teacher also seems good, he's new to teaching which means he's very careful about everything.
At the weekend I went to see Amanda Palmer playing in London. It was a really good day since I met up with
beam_oflight and we went to the Tate Modern and to a birthday party at the
plinth. Then we hung out with some Amanda Palmer fans before the show which was really fun, since everyone was so nice and someone had made puppets! The show itself was in this huge church which was quite surreal but beautiful. She played some obvious songs (Astronaut, Ampersand, Runs in the Family and Oasis) some covers, and Delilah and Boston, which were absolutely incredible. For me, one of the most beautiful parts though, was before hand when we were outside singing along to a ukulele to the song “Two-Headed Boy” by Neutral Milk Hotel, which is such an incredible song, and it was just a really lovely moment.
It's almost the time of year for me to apply to university. Eeek! I'm not applying to Oxford or Cambridge, and so don't need to apply early, however my schools deadline is pretty soon anyway. I don't know how much this differs from applying to college in the US, but over here we apply to five universities and have to write a 'personal statement' of 4000 characters, which outlines why we want to study the subject and what experience we have etc. Anyone that's done it/doing it knows that personal statement writing is absolute torture, and takes many drafts to get right, which is one of the reasons I haven't even written my second draft yet! I haven't even chosen my five universities yet, I'm not sure where I want to go, my English teacher is trying to persuade me to go to a “quirky” university, and I'm thinking at the moment that that's as good idea... now I just need to find the quirky universities!

1.How much do you think teachers affect the subjects you're learning? I'm lucky that the only really awful teacher I've had left before my exams last year.
2.Have you ever dyed your hair a bright colour?
3.Have you haver had to write something like a personal statement?
