I know most of you have watched Doctor Who, but I don't know if you've seen Torchwood. It's in its third season now, although it's actually a mini series of 5 episodes, which are airing one per night for this week. Torchwood is like Doctor Who's older, cruder, more violent brother. It's centred around Captain Jack Harkness, and has had it's share of awful writer's and cringe worthy plots. However, the new mini series is excellent! The plot is really good, and the characters are likable and engaging, rather than last season, where they were quite angsty, annoying and frustrating.
Now I'm going to ramble about “Infinite Jest” for a bit! It is a 981 (1077 including end notes) page book by David Foster Wallace, with the theme of addiction running through it. So far it's made up of many vaguely related threads of characters, and it's incredible. I started reading as part of Infinite Summer, but have now just become addicted to it, I can't wait till school ends and I have some undivided time to devote to reading! I'm not addicted to it in the sense that I can't put it down, but in the sense that I keep thinking about it, and wishing I were reading it.
Also, I twittered
this picture yesterday, which was of my #lofnotc tshirt that had arrived in the post. #lofnotc was something Amanda Palmer created when she was on twitter one night, tweeting, to be amusing “hereby call THE LOSERS OF FRIDAY NIGHT ON THEIR COMPUTERS to ORDER, motherfucker.” And, as things online sometimes do, it just grew and spread! Then she drew up a picture which made the front of the tshirt, and someone made the slogan “Don't stand up for what's right, stay in for what's wrong” which is on the back! I did order a size too big though, but I suppose it doesn't look too bad.
I'm going to Cirencester tomorrow, to go to the Roman museum there, plus the remains of the villa at Chedworth. I think it will be good, although I have been to the Cirencester museum before. Also, tomorrow will mean that Cat and I have been going out for one year, which is insane and awesome! Plus, I only have a week and two days left of school :).
