I have something to write about this week! YAY! (Also I promise I'll comment on all the other posts tomorrow, I wrote the first half of this post earlier, but now I've got back from the theatre and am incredibly tired!)
So on Monday I had my last exam, the second History exam, then I went down to London, as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago.
We went down there to see Sarah Rees Brennan, who's first book “The Demon's Lexicon” came out on the 2nd June. We ended up getting lost a couple of times, first on our way to the Youth Hostel, and then went wrong once on the way to the actual event.
The event was great, first there was a signing, where I was too flustered to get a video of Sarah, but she did sign my book and Cat's book, and I got some awesome buttons and bookmarks. I think I'll put my pictures in my video next week, or upload them to my personal LJ. We also met up with lots of people from the community marmalade_fish and everyone got on excellently.
Then we watched a film called “Hellboy” which Sarah chose and it was quite good, there was slightly too many random slimy monsters for my liking, but the ending was really cute.
On the way back to the tube station I had a nice conversation with someone who's doing English Lit at university now, the beginning of the conversation went something like:
Me: So what are you doing at university?
Her: English Lit.
Me: THAT IS SO AWESOME!!
Her: YES! It's just as good you think it'll be!
So now I'm kinda excited about university rather than just sort of anxious!
Today I went to see “Julius Caesar” at the RSC; the acting and music was excellent, but I absolutely loathed the set. Rather than opting for one fixed set like the RSC normally do (the set for “The Tempest” especially was gorgeous), they had a white screen and below it white movable material, which they projected images on. This could have been done well, I think, except they'd used computer generated images of crowds or soldiers, which I thought just looked horrible.
I'm excited for video week :D.
Comment Questions:
1. Have you met off-line anyone you've only ever spoken to online? I met one of my friends from LJ earlier this year, which was odd, but not as awkward as I thought it would be!
2. Have you seen “Hellboy”? Thoughts?
3. Why does my room seem to get messier the more I tidy?
4. I am tempted to ask about the weather again! Is that because I'm English, or just because I'm strange?
