Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's kind of a big deal here in Chicago (Chicago Irish and all that) to the point where we even dye the Chicago River Green. And there were two St. Patrick's Day parades this weekend. One for Chicago, and one for South Side Irish. My friend
rogue_chere13 came up all the way from Missouri to be in one of them (or both? I think it was just the Sat one). And yeah, we will pinch you if you don't wear green. I am not sure if I'm Irish or not, because my dad is unsure of all his heritage. We think he is, just a teensy bit. I am wearing green today...because I almost always wear green. And yeah, happy St. Patrick's Day!
We're talking about our friends this week, so I'll mention a few of them here!
Let's start with Casye (
rose_sparrow & iridescentfilm on Twitter), because she's very Irish and red-headed and half Leprechaun. Also because last night she joined up with the Nerdfighters on Ning. She said she became a Nerdfigher because of us! We are awesome! Casye, you need to comment & introduce yourself. She is awesome and brilliant and one of the best listeners and I love her. Plus lately she's been obsessing over The Road to El Dorado so that makes me love her even more!
--> Something interesting I wanted to mention. These days, all you really have to do to become a Nerdfighter is say "Hey, I'm a Nerdfigher!" or join up on the Ning. I was around to help create the Nerdfighters (March 07) and back then we had to write a verse to the Nerdfighter song to be considered an official nerdfighter. There was also the opening of My Pants where old members & top posters were Nerdfighters and newbs were NITs. It's interesting how the community is so much more accessible and not a close-knit group anymore. I miss the old days, but it's nice to have so many Nerdfighers now.
Sammmmmmmm/
rogue_chere13/rogue_chere13 is my Facebook fiancé and I met her through Karina (next up!). She's my crackficcing buddy and I love her dearly for that. We can happily spend hours creating stories about odd couples in our lil roleplaying group. She has more drama than anyone I know lately, but it makes me realize that I'm not the only one who can't keep things quiet. When something is wrong or good or just boring, we tell the world!
I think I would die a horrible, horrible death if I didn't mention Karina/
queenofspades89/colorxinverted because she is one of my oldest friends (almost 6 years!!) and one of the best. She's hilarious and a freaking genius (I do not even exaggerate) and makes me laugh. I met her through an X-Men roleplay ages ago and we clicked almost instantly and stayed strong ever since!
Which is also how I met Mike/
bebrosis/vegaobscura (though he never uses his LJ, lame)! The three of us all started on the same forum, which closed only a few months later. But somehow our friendship survived that (thanks to AIM, MSN, &
The Evolution Revolution. Mike is my best guy friend of all time and sometimes my best friend period. He's the best listener and a great story teller and hilarious and also gives great advice. I seriously stayed up until 200 this morning talking to him on MSN....discussing theories about Battle for the Cowl and the future of the Batman comics. We is dorks and we are proud!
You've already met my other two great friends,
chrischibigurl/ILikeMuffins and
jenthepanda/pandtastic thanks to the beauty of YouTube. Yup, they're Chris and Jen (respectively) from
The Triad of Dysfunction!
Chris cracks me up and is one of the best people to go and have fun with. I miss her so much right now, since she's away at school and couldn't come home on break last week. I am going through withdrawal. Srsly. But her videos & tweets help some. Still, I can't wait for her to come home around Easter. (Omg so many big things then! My dad's wedding, Easter, Chris, & FM Static's new cd!)
Jen is such a sweetheart and I can--and have--spent days straight with her. I've known her since about 3rd grade, but then she moved away, and then moved back and we became friends again in 8th grade. It wasn't until last year though that we became best friends. Life is funny that way. She's away at school right now, but close enough that if I had time, I could visit her (she's closer than my dad is). Her schedule is crazy because she's so determined in life. Dedicated too. She's got it rough with her health too, so we kind of understand each other in that respect. Which I think she needs more than I do, so I'm happy to lend her the support (because she has emotions, I don't).
Introducing you guys would be ridiculous, since you're the ones reading it. But really, you are all such good friends! ♥
I really, really wanted to talk about something interesting about music today, but I don't have enough room to fit it in here. When I thought of it, I had forgotten about the friend challenge for this week (Lia's post reminded me). I'll write it down & try to talk about it next week IN MAH VIDEO. ...yeah, excited for that. Shutting up now.
