Busy, busy week! Lots of homework on the go, I had two hours free today though, which I spent in the computer room writing an essay, which was quite a fun way to spend my morning!
On one of the thisisnottom BlogTV shows John did, he recommended the book of poetry called “Atlas” by Katrina Vandenburg, which one of the epigraphs for “Paper Towns” was from. I bought it, and I’m really enjoying it. One of my favourite quotes is “Paint me a window into that plush home. // I want to paint her in the best possible light”.
I also found a really interesting interview with Sylvia Plath on youtube, it’s
here and
here if anyone likes that kind of stuff. Yes, you will probably have got the impression I like poetry! I love discovering new poets, although at the moment I have a couple of books to read (Tales from Ovid by Ted Hughes and all of Walt Whitman’s work, although the book is set up in a way that confuses me…)
I went to see the Tempest on Saturday, which was excellent. It had an African theme to it and there were the most wonderful costumes and set. At the beginning, a huge snake came on and wound around the stage, which was stunning!
Hope you have a good week :).
Comment question time!
1. This should probably be a poetry related question, so it bares some resemblance to the actual post! Like poetry? Favourite poet?
2. It’s “World Book Day” tomorrow, and at my school we all dress up as literary characters. If you did that at your school, who would you be?
3. I saw Jez got a Dailybooth account, does anyone else have one? I’ve
got one but not used it much, since I don’t have a built in webcam, so it’s a bit of a hassle.
