06/28: "I'm a lax bro, got a problem with that?"

Jun 28, 2010 23:56

Salut, mes filles. Its Monday.

There's a lot going on right now in my life. I graduated from high school on Saturday morning and went to two graduation parties that afternoon. At the later party, we had a ginormous four and a half hour snuggle session on a trampoline, which was good times.

On Sunday, we had loads of people over for my own graduation party, which was lovely. Most of my friends either came or at least stopped by for a bit to say hello and Amanda gave me a giant bag of kettle corn as a gift. I love her.

Then today, I went to a bonfire at my neighbors' house for the 3rd time this summer. (Summer just started and we've already had 3 bonfires. I love my neighbors.) Tomorrow I'm going back over there because Erin and I have a tv date.

AND THEN ON FRIDAY I LEAVE FOR CHEZ TONI!!! I'm so excited! I miss you, Toni! And Jez, but we don't even get to see you until the 4th. Boo.

That reminds me. Toni, you posted an apology letter to Matt Smith on Tumblr. See it here, if you haven't yet. I was just thinking the same thing earlier. When I first saw Matt Smith, I didn't like him. Probably because David Tennant is spectacularly beautiful and Matt Smith is...less so. Plus, I feel that when you take a show that is meant to take place over a long period of time and watch it in a continuous stream, you lose a lot of the growth that comes with space in between episodes. Like when I had to have Doctor Who-less periods before and after I watched Doomsday because I needed to mentally prepare myself for Rose's departure and get over it. So I wasn't really ready to let D-Tennz leave.

Over time, however, he's proven he can not only play the role, but do it well. He's hit a great balance between showing that he's the same man timelord that he was before while still bringing a really different dynamic to the table. There were a lot of times when I was watching David Tennant just after Christopher Eccleston left when I'd try to imagine Nine say those lines. I did the same thing after Ten's regeneration and there were quite a few instances when I realized that David Tennant wouldn't have been able to pull that off. I find that really impressive. Stay awesome, Eleven.

Comment Questions:
1. What are your thoughts on the first few post-regeneration episodes?
2. Gone to any bonfires yet?
3. Have you ever burned your school papers at the end of the year? That's what we did tonight. We do it every year (and have for the past 9 years!) I burned my physics stuff.
4. Do you like roller coasters? LOVE.

Jez, we'll see you tomorrow and Toni, I'll see you on Thursday.
