Haunted! by Chuck Palahniuk
Haunted! is the latest fiction novel by Chuck P (author of fight club) and is similar, theme wise at least, to most of his other books. it's essentially about how much people will go through for fame, that's what i got out of it at least. the story around a dozen people give up their lives for three months, without letting anyone know where they're going, to attend a writers retreat. the idea is to give up all distractions so they cant bring much with them and cant even know where they're going themselves. once they arrive in the decrepit house the retreats organizer turns out to have alterior motives. they are trapped inside food is running out and they're all going a little nutso. they all decide they will turn themselves into a sort of horror story they can sell to the tabloids once they're "rescued" from a fait they've essentially laid on themselves.
the actual novel travels between stories of each characters past, the current story going on in the house, and the stories that the characters have written themselves.
overall i enjoyed it but i found that it seamed like chuck p tried to stuff too much into one book, there were too many characters and it was hard to get to know each of them well with the limited time we had with them. it seems like a good book for a re-read later on. it's the kind of book where your too interested being disturbed to put it down.
