music therapy rocks

Spent the day with Zoey and ran into the music therapist - readily identifiable since she was carrying a guitar through a hospital. Plus, I can spot that look anywhere, similar to the art student look, the frat boy look, and so on.
Anyway, she came in with her intern when I was holding Zoey, and started to play. We sang xmas songs and lullabyes together. Zoey looked around for the sounds of the others, since she could only see me. She smiled a lot, and mouthed along with the music. Even at a little under 4 months, she knows what she likes. U2 and Latin music mostly. Sadly enough, she does not like the sound of violins. I have immediate biofeedback available on all of her monitors - heart rate, breath rate, and oxygen saturation. Wish more researchers were paying attention! I could be doing a case study on her if I wasn't related.

I'm job hunting like crazy and hoping to have something by the new year. Zoey will have a stay-at-home daddy if all goes well. Leaving my career and patients was hard for me, but he will be thrilled to leave his job.

lots to sing about!
