Having had a female micropreemie who is now a wild and healthy 6 year old, I can say your story is spot on. We spent 17 weeks in the Dartmouth NICU and saw some babies show an amazing will to survive. At times you feel guilty because your kid is still fighting while a larger ,"older" child could not. The NICU staff are true heroes. We witnessed miraculous efforts from nurses and doctors to save our child. Thank you for the story as it wasn't really touched in the show.

Thank you!

I know that NICU staff has one of the highest turnover rates in medicine because it's so intense. I could not imagine going to work in a NICU every day.

Thank you for your comment. Sometimes even badass pediatric surgeon moms need to take a moment,

LOVE THIS. My heart breaks for Arizona and all the sorrow and guilt she's feeling. I love the tenderness between Callie and Arizona, and how Callie knows immediately what's going on.

Love your writing, as always. :)

My mom was NICU nurse for over 30 years. I don't know how she did it. I enjoyed this even though it was sad. Great job.

That is an incredibly long time to do that job. It has one of the highest turnover rates in all of medicine. The NICU is a scary, intense place to be, so serious kudos to your mom for sticking it out as long as she did. I'm sure a lot of families appreciated having more seasoned hands available to them.

Thank you.
