I kick ass at reading lately. Which, of course, isn't helping the whole study-for-your-finals bit, but JESUS H CHRIST if I have to read ANYTHING MORE about anthropology I'm gonna go ape shit (pun totally intended).

Anyways. I finished Othello yesterday, which I'd never read before, and lemme say it kicked a lot of ass. I mean, not Hamlet-level ass kicking, but definately Macbeth-level. And certainly better than the comedies. That scene where Othello is all "I can't bring myself to believe that you slept with Cassio, but Iago said you did, so you must've"? Rocked my world. Iago is such a jerk. Geez.

I'm following it up with Anne Marie MacDonald's "Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet", which my school is all about these days after the theatre program put on a very good adaptation of, which I never saw but heard wildly good reviews of. I figured MacDonald + Shakespeare = good any day of the week, and so far haven't been dissapointed. I love how Romeo and Juliet are totally over each other. That's such a Romeo thing to do.

I'm all about the CanLit these days. Canadians know how to write. I mean, we gave the world Margaret Atwood! And I think it's important to note that we didn't give the world Danielle Steele. We've got the prose thang down.

I went on a shopping mission for A Room of One's Own today, because I felt it kinda a crime I'd never read it. Along the way, I picked up Life of Pi, which I finally decided to break down and read after I read the Helsinki Roccamatios. And you can't beat three bucks (yay living downtown!). I was about to give up on my Woolf when I decided to try one last tiny book shop /cafe of the China Steps, where Geoff's band played, and finally found it.

Geoff's band, by the way, rocked my socks last weekend. The show was super good. It started at 8 pm, and, true to its promises, lasted until 6 am. There were, however, none of the promised waffles. Geoff didn't play until about 4:30. The band was supposed to have a really awesome time slot, right at the peak of the show around 1, but the drummer (ggrrrr) was nowhere to be seen, and was eventually spotted at a nearby A&W. Point is, the show was great, the mosh pit gave me bruises (which isn't easy. Kudos for good moshing.), and I have restored faith in the local music scene.
