Wow....
So... everything seems to be happening suddenly.
I've decided that I'm going to accept my offer to Drake and will beginning classes there on June 5- one day shy of a month from graduating with my BASW. I'm trying to figure out where I'm living next year- it'll be an apartment for now then probably next Spring or Summer I'll buy a house. Vic is supposed to help me look for an apartment in Des Moines in a few weeks. AND, I think I've roped him into helping me move in when it comes time- then I can be lazy and girly and organize my dishes and stuff while he helps dad carry in the heavy stuff like my bed and couch and such! What a good friend (granted, he'll probably get a meal or two out of my parents for that)! ;D
I also had written the woman in charge of field placement to tell her not to place a student at the agency I was at in the future unless some changes happened. And then suddenly, I was given the number of a woman to call at another agency to arrange a placement. I started there yesterday and already I've done a life skills puppet program with 2nd graders and attended two meetings. Next Wed. I'll be going to Des Moines for Youth Advocacy Day with the woman who coordinates JEL in Black Hawk County and watching a group of youth advocate with legislators, etc. I'm also in charge of coordinating a fundraiser we have going on during April, and putting together some letters to the editor, press releases and PSAs... talk about shock! I've done more things in two days than I did in 2 1/2 months at the other agency... While the staff there were great and I'm going to miss them, I'm going to get so much more out of this.
And tomorrow, its off to home so I get at least a little bit of a spring break. Hope I can get to see everyone who I'm supposed to see and maybe do a little bridesmaid/MoH dress shopping (cause I'll actually get to do it this time) and do some cleaning/packing around home and do homework and the grandparents are coming in on Friday. I thought spring break was supposed to be relaxing!
