So I'm finally building a computer.
I mean, I've "built" computers before, but the goal was, keep it as cheap as possible. And I did indeed build my dad a very modern computer for basically nothing over $300. Dell can do that for you too, but my $300 went a lot further in performance. Anyways, built computers are so much more personal than factory bitches. Dad was so sad to see that computer died (dog hair clogged the fans, and the processor had a meltdown. Lawl).
But MY computer however, is extreme.
So far, the cost just hit $1,800. But it has my headset, two 22" flatscreens, two keyboards (I'll get to that), the speakers + base speaker, headset, and all the computer guts (case, proc, mem, hdd, etc).
The computer's gonna have 3 keyboards and 3 screens installed. Of course the primary keyboard is what you use to type english; But I've taken up interest in learning Russian and I think having a 2nd keyboard mapped to Russian will let me learn how to type and I'll make some Red pen pals. That, and a russian character can be mapped to a command in WoW, basically doubling my keys.
My laptop can do russian now. press alt+shift and *bam* фыдвжаофвыждлаофжыдваордр.
Instead of doing that though, I make a second keyboard be permanently mapped to that. The third keyboard will be mapped to greek + other special characters.
Anyways, I'm putting three keyboards on for one final reason- it matches my color scheme. My color scheme is black with Red + blue light.
Conceptually, I want to put two windows in the side of the case. One will have the grim reaper, lit up red, and the other will have Tyrael from D2, lit up blue. Maybe I aughta swap the reaper for Diablo himself or something. Who knows.
The keyboards are the famous light-up Saiteks, one lit up red, one lit up blue.
The three monitors is gonna be the most badass part though. I have to do some modding to my current screen though, it's got this horrendous silver bar across the bottom (and a dead pixel, bleagh). Maybe I'll just replace it with a third of the model that the other two are =P
I just love the mainframe look. I think I'll get some old 3:4 (you know, NOT widescreen?) flat monitors and just run the matrix screensaver on them all day. And seeing as I have an uber comp, I think maybe i'll buy into the Skype deal, just get a number through them. Maybe its a waste though, I never use all the minutes on my cell.
Eitherhow, I'm excited to finally be building my machine.
Specs for my nerd bretheren.
4GB DDR2 1066 RAM
1GB @ 633MHz ATI video card
640 GB, 10,000RPM Western Digital Primary hdd
1TB (500GB x2) RAID0 secondary hdd
AMD Phenom 9850 2.5GHz Quad Core. Hoping to OC to 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2.
I can't wait to put this bitch together in 2 weeks.
Newegg gave me a $2k credit limit... And with this purchase, I'll have no payments for 1 year! Fine print: At the end of one year, they charge you the whole year's interest. Translation- if i pay it off within one year, I'm charged no interest. Meaning, I can have my computer now, and pay it off over 10 months with no penalty or extra cost whatsoever. Anybody who says credit cards are evil is just not a very financially minded person.
