Dear Wind Ensemble,
You never fail me. When you played Espirit de Corps, you made me so excited that I giggled and sang quietly the entire time. (Horns, your isolated chord at the end was orgasmic). I can hardly contain myself when that piece is played.
Everything else was above amazing too. The Wagner piece made me cry. No joke. I had a tear stram.
Thank you for making my night complete, WE.
Love,
Jessica
Kelsey made fun of the girls' dresses. I told her that they asked me to be in WE, but I declined on account of the ugly uniform. She believed me.
I find myself coming to these recitals to just sit and enjoy the music. Before, I would sit and critque. "Oh, trumpets are out of tune" "Oh, that horn flubbed their entrance" "Oh, the trombones are blasting (again)"
Not lately. If I did that, I would go crazy. There were obviously some problem spots in the recital last night (in every recital, for that matter). But I no longer care. It's just so amazing to sit there and watch these people that I know play their hearts out. They pour everything into it. It is such an incredible thing.
I feel so lucky to have music be a large part of my life. I don't know how anyone can't. I feel fulfilled and complete. Where things aren't going right or leave a hole in my life, music steps in and relieves everything.
Things I Love:
-The triangle, and when people play it. It's so cute whey they get all prepared and hold it up real high. It's adorable.
-The marimba. Holy F.
-The timpani
-The english horn, it is so much better than an oboe
-Horns with roaring/screaming parts. In those moments, I wish I was a horn player
After the concert, Kelsey, John Stout and I waited around for Schraft to be done to see if he wanted to do something with us. He chose his lonely bed. Bad choice, Michael. Bad choice.
Kelsey and I went to Family Video (after picking up and dropping of Bao somewhere) to get Disney movies. We saw a ton of familiar faces there. Kevin. :P Justin and Ashley!!! Scott and Sarah. (woah, I just realized that I have an aunt and uncle by those names....)
I gave Justin and Ashley a suggestion for a movie, let Scott and Sarah borrow Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and we rented The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and The Rescuers.
Kelsey and I fell asleep in my room.
Pshah, John Stout and Michael Schraft. You missed out.
My day will be full of practicing, studying, and going to the improv show at 7:30 in horrabin hall.
