Oh the amusement my Genetics book brings!  The writers of this book are either a little crazy or have an odd sense of humor.  I literally lolled while I was studying a little at ryan/rohit's yesterday.  Exerpts (read them):

"...functional sperm--mobile microscopic missiles capable of delivering their nuclear payload to the ovum."
