"What about when women were submissive?"

Hah! Like when!? Are you looking back to the fifties? That's not a good generalization to make regarding US history. The fifties were generally regarded as a time of social upheaval, where social identities were clashing and no one overall persona could truely be identified. The Atomic Family never existed in the majority of the households, and was really only a vague, distant ideal. In fact, you could say that the sex and depravity in today's society is a prolonged reaction to those times, as if every youth in America were metaphorically dry-heaving at the thought of returning to those times by throwing their crotch in the face of their respective opposite (or hell, same) gendered partner.

And if you're trying to make a reference to some time before that, then I laugh at you, because the "conservative" woman was only that simply because that's all the man allowed her to be. I mean, I don't know if you're proposing completely and outright inequality, like the radical muslims, but if you're not, don't even try to make an American example.

What's grosser than a feminist? Being a second class citizen, I'd say.

And what abotu before America? When has women being submissive ever historically been advantageous? For centuries, women have been raped and formally enslaved by male masters, while the elite women of the times were looked down upon for such extra-marital thoughts. I mean, look at the greeks, the romans, the Norsemen, hell, any semi-advanced society ever. Submissiveness is not a good thing, not at all. If you love someone, you "bond," you "unite," you don't "submit." That's bloody enslavement.

Sorry about this tirade, but I recently saw some radical Christians preaching female submission, and had actual female converts claiming that it was fine for a woman to submit, as long as she loved the man, and as long as the man would love and sacrifice and teach her. Makes me fucking vomit. I mean, if you love them, why degrade yourself? Why lower yourself like that? Submission does not create equality.

So yes, that's right, I'm a violent, raging feminist. Watch as my testicles shrink in protest.

I'm on the fence on this one, but I agree more with Jasna than with Rohit. Yeah, women have been oppressed throughout history, yadda yadda. But this isn't history, and that's sort of beside the point.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all for equality in the workplace, politics, and society. But in a relationship, it's different. When all is said and done, a woman is not fundamentally the same thing as a man, and I believe relationships tend to work better if you stop trying to force full equality at all levels. I can't speak for all women, but theres something to be said for a man who is willing to be strong, powerful, and dominant. A man you can respect, and feel justified in submitting to. There's just a certain yin and yang in the traditional setup that, if combined with love and respect, breeds true harmony. You can't blame women entirely for its corrosion - to have a submissive woman, you need a dominant man. It seems that most men just aren't willing or able to be so strong anymore. I'm certainly not saying a woman should give all her rights over to her husband, and allow herself to be unhappy in a relationship. I'm just saying full equality is not all it's cracked up to be. Maybe "equality" is a bad term. Having different roles does not necessarily make the sexes unequal. It's more the blurring of roles that is a byproduct of the incessant drive for equality. It's as if women are afraid to be women anymore, and men afraid to be men. Who the hell wants an androgynous society? Feminists annoy the fuck out of me.

i dont think that she means submissive as in "PLEASE JOHNNY BEAT ME!!!!!!," but as in dont go around with you make up caked, your boobs hanging out, and a short skirt showing all of your ass to get attention. thats so NASTY. i mean, what kind of guy dates those girls? the ones who just want a peice of ass. and then all the guys forget about the good girls (not like they were good enough in the first place). just.... i think that she means the girls who throw themselves at guys. the whores.
