MOD POST: YouTube.com Idea

Apr 08, 2006 11:51

Hey everybody! Here is a thought about downloads, web space, bandwidth, finding links that are still valid, etc.

Could/should/would we use You Tube as another community resource?

Anyone can upload videos up to 100MB and 10 minutes in length, which should fit our needs. They host it forever, and it's always there for people to watch in case they don't watch to save all of these videos to their hard drives.

When you upload videos, you can put tags on them to help people find them, and we could use one for the community (i.e., "neptunevideo" since spaces would make it into two tags) and then people could easily find all the videos with that tag.

Not only that, but I would be willing to have a community post that lists all the YouTube links to videos.

So, yay or nay? Is this something we should try investing time in or no?

Comments = good.

Keep up the creativity! Hoping to see some videos for the theme. *hinthint*

ETA: This is for ARCHIVING of the community - not a suggestion for the only method of viewing videos. Thanks for the input so far!

ETA #2: So then the question becomes can and will people upload there with the "neptunevideo" tag? I have just added all of mine, tagged with "neptunevideo" and "roniabirk" so you should be able to find them. It could also be a great way to gain more exposure for the show. For the super curious, my old BTVS fanvids are up there, too. Shhh! ;-)
