The weirdest thing about the day so far was probably that, for Veronica Mars, waking up to the find the world shaking and sliding beneath her was almost comforting. "Fucking ridiculous," I grumbled, grabbing a handful of my tank top to air out the fabric. I was sweaty and my sunburns were probably sunburned and I kept swatting at the same damn mosquitos. "It's not that big of an island, we should be back by now and I swear to God, if I hear any more dinorawring I'm going to... well I'm going to do something.

"What? Kill one?" Now that she'd pay to see. Not too much, but it'd keep things interesting. "Cause suicide isn't painless. MASH lied."

I'm about ready to just stand here yelling out names and wait for 'em to come to us. But I figure that's a pretty fucking dumbass idea. "You know, I'm gonna be really fucking pissed off when we get back to the compound and they're already there," I snort, pulling a bottle of water out of my bag to take a sip and then holding it out toward Veronica.

Hear with your eyes, see with your eyes. It sounded simple, but Arya had a point, and Veronica was paying close attention to their surroundings.

Except for the part where it was probably more than fine with the dinosaurs. "Shit. Are you sure we're heading west?" No, I wasn't nearly out of breath. Shut up. Canting a hip to the side, I visored a hand over my eyes and blinked into the distance. "Wait. Is that...?"
More staring and blinking, now accompanied by pointing at this heat-hazy tower peaking out over the tops of the trees. "Please tell me I'm not just seeing things because I'm dying from exposure...?"

"We have to be, the sun's fucking that way." She points to where it was and takes a wild guess based on how long they've been awake. No fucking nature guide, but still. It's something. "If you're dying then I'm dying cuase I fucking see it too," she mutters, nearly compliant for once.

Wordlessly, I dump the shit I've been carrying -- just the flashlight and my jacket -- and find the ladder that leads up. "Let's see what we can see," I mutter to myself and start climbing.

... and nearly jumped out of my freaking skin when this tiny little dinosaur scuttled into few, twitched its head in the general direction of my knee, and then blinked up at me with these wide, faux-innocent eyes. It looked like a chicken with a combination of gangrene and eczema.
Right. Watch out for the small ones. I huffed a disgusted sound, tossed the girl a disgruntled look, and just, well, I kicked it. In the face. With my bare foot.
The sun had gotten to me, I swear. "Ow, motherfucking...scales...fucking... go away!" I yelled, hopping a little, and then made to kick at it again but it scuttled off before I could get in a second suicidal shot ( ... )
