Laundry and shopping...

Mar 14, 2009 20:36

It's a rainy mess today. All day rain. Bleah.

I took my laundry over to the clean and shiny laundrymat today. Even though it costs more--$7.15 instead of $3.75--I get done faster and have a table to sit at while I'm waiting.

And there's an attendant all the time, which is really not all that important, except it could explain why the place stays cleaner. It's back in the part of town I used to live in, over between Pembroke and wherever, and I would like to find a clean and shiny laundrymat that's closer, but it's not like it's a huge distance. Plus it gives me an excuse to go to the B&N in Pembroke. Which I did, in order to have a book to read while sitting there.

So I do all my laundry, and hang my blouses and slacks like I always do, and hang those in the backseat of the car. Between the laundrymat and home, the skies unleash lots of raindrops in the place of the light drizzle that had been going on. So I just hauled up the slacks and my tote (I have a special tote for laundry day, to carry my hangers and other such things) and put the slacks away.

I will say this about doing the laundry out--it gets put away, right away, instead of sitting in baskets and eventually having to be rewashed to get the cat fur and creases caused by cats sleeping out of them. And it doesn't take a whole evening, just an hour or so. And I don't forget a load in the washer for several days.

So yeah, slacks put away. And then the sleep caught me.

So I napped a bit on the couch. When I woke, I headed back out for a bite to eat and some shopping. I had dinner at Plaza Azteca on Laskin, which I've decided is not as good as the one on Holland, and neither are as good as the Mexican restaurants I was accustomed to in Columbus. (But they are located in Virginia which makes them a massive improvement.)

Then the shopping. See, yesterday I'd popped in at Dillards and bought myself three tops and a pair of slacks for $50, so I knew there would be clearance at Macy's too. So today I checked them out, and well... I did buy a very nice pair of slacks for less than $20, but the tee I bought was more than $20 (though not significantly). Most of what was there was pretty well shopped over. But the slacks are nice, and they're teal, which is a color other than black, you see.

So anyway, I'm back home with the cats, and my few books I bought at B&N today, and most of my laundry has been brought in now (all except the towels). Watching Notting Hill and wishing it weren't raining; I'd love to go out but not enough to brave the rain.

Exciting life, yes?
