I was supposed to be studying for a test all this afternoon, but as usual when I have something important to do, I was suddenly seized by the desire to bake a chocolate cream pie. So I went to the grocery store to buy cream, baking chocolate, and a graham cracker crust, and of course wound up buying a bunch of things I didn't need... This is why I have to force myself to make shopping lists!
Once I got home, I made the filling for the pie, then promptly dropped the pie shell, which shattered into a bazillion pieces. At least I hadn't poured the filling in yet! It drives me crazy how spastic and klutzy I am, though. Girls are supposed to be graceful-- what's wrong with me? ;-)
In addition to fiddling around in the kitchen for longer than was strictly necessary, I also checked the mail four times, read the news at least six times (including the Sports stuff, which I never ever read), checked out the crime statistics for my apartment complex, bought a new lipgloss, edited some of my recent digital pics, and engaged in various other time-wasting activities. Now it's almost 11:30 and I still have barely cracked the book. Can you tell I'm suffering from major senioritis?
In other news, I've been having some really funny dreams lately. They're all in Dutch, but not really Dutch. I'll wake up and immediately look up some of the words I remembered using in the dream, and often as not, they aren't real words! Guess my brain is just making things up to fill in the gaps in my vocabulary... :)
I've got Holland more and more on the brain lately. All I can think about is stepping off that airplane in June, ready to start a new phase of my life. This long-distance relationship has gone on long enough (two years!), and while Rick and I actually see each other reasonably often, it's not the same as living together by any means. This will be the real test. I'm also getting excited about going to
Rock Werchter this July with Rick, Eef, and assorted other Rickfriends. The lineup doesn't look as cool as last year's, in my opinion, but there are still plenty of good artists on there (for you non-Dutchies, click on "Nederlands" and then on "Affiche" for the list).
Anyway, enough daydreaming! I need to get back to reading about Russia under Yeltsin and Putin... *sigh*
