For those of you living in the Netherlands who have reason to call the US (or any other foreign country, for that matter) , you might want to check out
Teledump, a really cheap subscriptionless long distance service. You dial an 0900 access number, which charges you a one-time connection fee of 5 cents, and then after that you dial the number of the person you want to call. For the US, UK, and Canada, you pay 1 cent per minute between the hours of midnight and 8:00am, 2.8 cents per minute between 8:00 and 19:00, and 1.5 cents per minute between 19:00 and midnight. Not bad, considering it costs me 5 cents per minute to call the other direction!
Rick and I have only been using it for a week or so, so we're still holding out to see if he will get any weird, sneaky charges on his telephone bill. Several of Rick's British coworkers use Teledump to call home to the UK and report being very satisfied with it, and thus far everything seems to be on the up-and-up, but I can't help but be a little skeptical yet, at least until we get the bill.
But anyway, just thought maybe some of y'all would be interested in checking it out, if you hadn't heard of it already. :)
