Random Neighbourhood Challenges: Add-On

Aug 18, 2013 10:10

Getting a little bored with normal life in your BaCC? Looking for something to spice things up? We've got random mini challenges for Legacies, and now we've got some for BaCCs as well!
Every week, roll a d6.
1-3: Nothing particularly exciting happens
4-6: You’ve won the Challenge Jackpot, baby! Roll another d6 to determine which table you’ll be using. 1-2: table 1, 3-4: table 2, 5-6: table 3.
1-2
1) House Fire! One household of your choosing loses their entire house in a fire. They will need to spend the week with someone else until their new house has been built.
2) Trucker Strike! The delivery truckers are mad about their crappy wages and long hours, and have gone on strike. Fuel and Groceries are in shortage, and your Sims can’t buy groceries, dine out, buy drinks at the bar or go anywhere in a car this week.
3) Zombie Invasion! Your town is invaded by a swarm of aggressive killer zombies. Luckily, the Mayor manages to keep a cool head and has ordered house arrest for all citizens in order to keep them safe. No Sim may go outside for any reason (school, work, or going out) this week, until the zombie threat has been dealt with.
4) Banking Crash! SimNation Bank has suffered a crash, and all your Sims funds and assets are now worthless. Remove all expendable money for all households (except for BaCC Town Funds).
5) Water Shortage! Your local water plant has suffered a catastrophic failure, and it will take some time before water pressure can be reinstated. No Sim can use any water (sink, shower, bath, hottub, etc) for a week until the water gets switched back on. Toilets not included (your Sims can do their business in the bushes).
6) Power Outage! Your local power plant has suffered a catastrophic failure, and it will take some time before electricity can be reinstated. Any electrical objects are off limits this week until power is restored. (includes any electronic entertainment, lights, and whatever else runs on electricity).
3-4
1) Democracy Crisis! The inhabitants have finally had enough with current policy, and are clamouring to be heard. Your Founder/Mayor/Elected-Official-For-The-Occasion will have to hold a town meeting (party) every other day this week, and have each be a Roof Raiser. If successful, all relationships in town are increased by 20. If unsuccessful, all relationships in town are decreased by 50.
2) Bug Infestation! Your town has become infested with pests! It will take awhile for the exterminators to make everyone’s house liveable again. In the meantime, your Sims will have to live outside in tents and bbq their meals in an impromptu backyard camping trip.
3) Gold Rush! Your town is in the grip of severe gold fever. All sims will have to stay away from work this week, and at least one Sim per household has to be digging for treasure at any given time. Sims can sell what they dug up, so at least there’s some benefit to the craze.
4) Foundling! One household of your choosing finds a little bundle of joy on their doorstep. Have them adopt a toddler and take care of their new addition to the family.
5) Love is in the Air! The adults in your town have been feeling butterflies lately. ALL adults have to go on at least one Dream Date this week.
6) Plague! A (deadly) plague has hit your town. Roll a die for every Sim in your hood. If they roll a 1, they die (hardmode) or get sick (easymode).
5-6
1) Alien Pollination! The town has been chosen as testing grounds for a squadron of rogue alien pollinators. Roll a d6 for every adult male in the neighbourhood. 1-4: They have been found unsuitable for pollination. 5-6: guess who’s got a green sproglet on the way?
2) Flowertastic Contest! The major has entered the town/city into a Flowertastic Neighbourhood contest. All your families must try and get a Garden Club score over 700 (winning a Wishing Well) by the end of the week. If all families succeed and your town wins the award, every Sim gets a platinum mood for the duration of the next week. There are no negative consequences for losing - better luck next time!
3) Something in the Water! An evil scientist has dumped his latest concoction into the town’s water supply. Captain Hero managed to apprehend the fiend, but was too late to prevent the water’s contamination. Luckily, the concoction isn’t poisonous, and its effects should wear off after a while. Due to the effects of the contaminated water, all Sims switch to their ‘opposite’ aspiration for the week and should act accordingly. Popularity - Knowledge, Family - Romance, Pleasure - Fortune. Grilled Cheese sims are mysteriously unaffected.
4) SimNation needs YOU! A war has broken out between SimNation and a neighbouring country, and all older male teens and adult have been conscripted. Have all eligible males switch to the Military career, and move them to a single lot, your military base, to be played as a household at the start of the rotation.. Noone is allowed to leave the base for any reason other than their job (teens will have to make up for missed school later) until the end of the week.
5) National Tragedy! A horrific giant robot has gone on a rampage in SimCity, destroying half the city and taking hundreds of lives. SimNation is in mourning, and your town with it. All Sims start the week in lowest possible aspiration, and cannot use any items to increase their aspiration levels for the entirety of the week. Sims with Platinum aspiration are exempt.
6) Syndicate Winnings! Your town’s Sims have formed a syndicate to play the national sweepstakes, and they’ve hit the jackpot! Every household gets §5,000, no strings attached.
