With three Sims, the McFusty household is currently the largest in Badger's Sett. Twins Nora and Oswald decided on a blockhut similar to Lexi's, but what with their pooled possessions, it has more comforts and furnishings. The house sits next to Licas' scrapyard/workshop, close to a small natural pond. Oswald and his best friend Colin Cho have plans on stocking it with fish from the nearby river, and maybe taking out their boat sometime to explore - once they finish it.
The inside of Casa McFusty. A fairly large part of the hut is dedicated to storing part of the town's food supplies. The settlers built two underground larders when they constructed the houses, one on Licas' plot and one on June's little farm, but they are prioritised for perishable food that has to be stored on ice. Things like potatoes, onions and apples, food that will keep long in a dark cool place, are kept in barrels and crates.
Oswald and Nora both have important roles to play in the settlement: Oswald as its engineer and Nora as its physician. They spend a lot of time brushing up on their skills and solving the variety of little problems that the settlers are faced with on a daily basis.
Colin, as a computer scientist, doesn't have a lot to do right now. There's no electricity or internet connection in Badger's Sett, and that leaves him without a speciality for now, aside from operating the sattelite phone. That doesn't mean he isn't useful though: Colin used to go on frequent fishing trips with his dad in Maple Lake when he was a kid, and he's been using his skills to stock the pond next to the blockhut with fish.
Colin: "Dinner is served!"
Oswald spends a lot of time with Licas, seeing as their engineer/mechanic team is in charge of bringing civilised comforts to Badger's Sett. They've been planning and constructing together ever since they arrived, and have become good friends, despite their different backgrounds, and Licas' little quirks.
Oswald: "It's 2 o'clock in the afternoon, Licas. I didn't expect having to drag you out of bed when I came here."
Licas: "Just catching up on some sleep, I've been pulling an all-nighter."
Oswald: "Again? Man, you need to fix your sleeping schedule."
Oswald: "Don't you sometimes think Licas is a bit... odd?"
Colin: "How so?"
Oswald: "Well, working through the night all the time and napping during the day. We were supposed to have a look at wiring the house, but he's zonked out on the couch again. You'd think having daylight in that workshop would be easier to work by."
Colin: "Dude, maybe he's like, a vampire. How awesome would that be?"
Oswald: "There's no such thing as vampires, Col. Besides, he's walking around in the daylight just fine."
Colin: "Yeah, but it'd be awesome, no?"
The boys can't cook an egg to save their lives, so Nora is in charge of turning the fish Colin provides into something edible. She's getting better at it, although her culinary skills are limited to seasoning stuff and slapping it on the grill for now.
Oswald: "Hey Colin!"
Colin: "Huh?"
Oswald: "FOOD FIGHT!"
Colin: "Your aim is miserable, as always."
Nora: "Would you guys grow up already? It's not like we have plenty of extra food to waste. We have to make our supply last until June's farm is capable of providing fresh produce."
Oswald: "Would you chill already? It was just a little bit of salad. There's no laws on having fun, y'know."
Nora's idea of fun, however, doesn't stretch much further than reading books and playing chess, which is all she does with her free time.
Colin: "Look you guys! Guys! I finally got it! Guys! You're not looking! Guys!"
Nora: "Rage... building..."
Oswald's use of free time has proved to be more interesting than his sister's. He's been spending it mooning after June Jones, the settlement's farmer girl.
Oswald: "You could stay for dinner, if you like. It's got to get a little lonely on your farm, no?"
June: "Oh, uhm, it's not too bad. Ella's always around, and Bora keeps me company of course."
Oswald: "So you don't want to stay for dinner?"
June: "Oh, I didn't... I mean... I'd love to!"
June: "It's so nice of you to ask. Are you sure your sister won't mind if I stay?"
Oswald: "Yeah, no problem. Besides, Colin said he'd cook tonight. No worries!"
Nora: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Colin: "I DON'T KNOW! D: "
Nora: "Grab that other extinguisher! Quick! Spray at the source, try to cover it evenly. THIS PLACE IS MADE OF WOOD!"
Nora: "You are NEVER cooking again, Colin."
Colin: "I concur. *cough* "
Oswald: "So uhm, what d'you think? Colin said his Blackened Catfish was a speciality of his."
June: "Well, it's certainly, uhm, Blackened."
Oswald: "Aheh..."
Oswald: *getting his flirt on*
June might come across as shy, but she certainly doesn't seem to believe in wasting any time. What would Oswald think if he knew she was already planning their wedding in her head? He's only just gotten out of university, after all...
