Riverside Hollow has reached the double digits in weeks! I read through all my updates a few days ago and completely fell in love with my silly little town again, so I've picked up where I left off. Yay for more BaCC updates :)
I played week 10 for the Fenwicks before my hiatus, so this update is actually several weeks (months?) old. I've also changed the aging mod that I'm using, switching down from 2 days = 1 year to 1 day = 1 year. I want to see the town moving along a bit faster. Everyone's ages have been updated accordingly and seeing as we're just on a generation switch-over, the change shouldn't be too jarring.
Flora moved out last week to live together with her fiancé Adam Stibbons, and noone has seen Freesia around for a while, as she's off on an expedition into the forests together with her beau Rajat Patanjali. That means the Fenwick household has been reduced to Felix, his son Fox, and Fox's girlfriend Hannah Greengrass.
The new housing arrangement gives everyone some much-needed breathing space, even if Felix misses having all his kids around. He's been feeling rather lonely and morose since his wife Lily died. Flora has taken over his mayor duties full-time now, and he's been making himself useful helping out with her myriad of building projects.
Fox has made it to the position of Lieutenant on the Riverside Hollow Policeforce. His boss seems to like him, and has been generous with the promitions.
Fox: "Tell me why I'm supposed to ride in the back behind the bars again?"
Driver: "Cause this is my car, and I get nervous when someone's being all fidgety next to me."
Fox: "I am so asking Riana if I can have my own patrol car..."
Having missed out on the Fenwick werewolf genes, Fox has to get those body skill points the hard way. Luckily Felix is more than happy to help him out with a training schedule.
Felix: "Come on Fox! Higher! Lift up those knees! Your old man is doing better than you are!"
Fox: "Unlike my... *pant* old man, I don't have supernaturally *huff* boosted... *cough* endurance."
Hannah had some important news at the breakfast table.
Hannah: "... and I threw up again this morning. I think... no, I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant, Fox."
Fox: "That's AWESOME!"
Hannah: "It is? I mean, uh, of course it is. Yay babies! Aheh..."
Hannah's really not as enthousiastic about the prospect of birthing little Fenwicks as Fox is, but then again he's a Family sim, and all she can think of as a Popularity sim is how this is going to affect her recently acquired social life.
She doesn't mind all the pampering that Fox is doing for her, though. Maybe this whole pregnancy thing isn't such a bad deal after all.
Lily has been quite an active ghost, but noone has seen her so far. She keeps the haunting to moving around a few small objects occasionally, and floating through the garden at dusk.
With Hannah carrying his child, Fox decides to do the right thing and upgrade her from girlfriend to wife. He's been brought up by Felix after all, who is rather traditional in these matters. Or as he tactfully put it: "You knock 'er up, you put a ring on it."
Hannah is happy enough to oblige :)
Riana keeps following Fox home from work, and has proven to be remarkably hard to get rid of. She'll talk about her prowess in baseball no matter how many subtle (and not so subtle) hints are dropped that, isn't it getting late? And shouldn't she have things to do at home?
Riana: "What? Oh, I have basically no life right now, it's cool. So as I was saying, I smacked that sucker with such a force, it flew all the way to the other side of the parking lot!"
Riana: "But to come back to the policing work, I think there's some things that you could bring to the *ahem* force that definitely wouldn't hurt your chances of a new promotion soon."
Riana: "Iiiiiffff you know what I mean? Wink wink? Nudge nudge?"
Fox: "Oh, totally! Don't you worry, I've been stepping up the training programme. My dad's been helping me out too, teaching me some really cool cross-country stuff. And Arthur's lent me that printscanner thingie, so I've been working on finding clues as well."
Riana: "And yet, you remain clueless."
Fox: "I'm sorry?"
Riana: "Nevermind..."
Unfortunately for Riana, Fox only has eyes for his fiancée, especially as she's about to give birth to their first child!
The newest addition to Riverside Hollow is a bouncing baby boy, who has been named Falcon, in concordance with the Fenwick naming tradition. Falcon has Hannah's black hair and Fox's brown eyes, and is all in all an adorable little grub.
Fox: "Look dad! I've got a mini-me!"
Felix: "I can remember when you were that tiny. Huge lungs on you, though. Seems to be a Fenwick thing. Good luck with that."
The birth of Falcon helped make some headway in the reconciliation of the Greengrass sisters, as Cordelia came over to apologise and asked to see her nephew. Hannah was gracious enough (though she couldn't leave the opportunity to be a bit obnoxious about it unused), but was quick to make it clear that this didn't mean they would suddenly be best friends.
Hannah: "Woops, smells like he just pooped. Care to take over for a minute, sister dear? Seeing as you're so keen to spend time with your nephew, and all that."
Cordelia: "Ahh... of course."
Hannah: *angelic smile*
Emily: "Are you marrying auntie Hannah? Can I call you uncle Fox? Your baby sure is loud. We have tons of babies at home too, they just keep popping up. Where do they keep coming from, anyway?"
Fox: "Errrr, that's one for your parents, Emily."
The birth of his first grandson has made Felix think on his mortality more than usual. When he was younger, he never really thought he would ever be this old and creaky.
Or that he would lose the love of his life so cruelly soon. Every day without Lily seems to weigh more heavily on him, and the joy at Falcon's birth is overshadowed by the fact that he can't share it with her.
Soon Hannah is worshipping the porcelain god again.
Hannah: "I should never have let Fox talk me into a second child... HUUEERGHHH"
With Hannah pretty much incapacitated from a difficult pregnancy, Fox is taking on the parenting duties on top of his police work. He loves taking care of Falcon and spending so much time with him, but the lack of sleep is starting to get to him as well.
Fox: "... and if that diamond ring don't shine, daddy's gonna buy himself a bottle of wine..."
At least he got in a couple of hours sleep to be well-rested for Falcon's toddler birthday. The family was invited for the occassion, including Cordelia and her husband Victor. As family is so important to Fox (and Cordelia did a whole lot of grovelling), Hannah has agreed to see them on family occassions.
A quick toss and some sparkles...
I'm no longer surprised that every single kid looks so darn good in this neighbourhood. Must be something in the water. Falcon does look pretty much like a little Fox clone, as the Fenwick genes prove to be pretty strong.
That's all for this update. I hope you enjoyed it! :)
