BaCC: My Ruleset

Apr 10, 2011 20:57

I love the Build a City Challenge (BaCC) and have tried it a couple of times, but the playrules just don't suit the way I play very well.

That's why I've been trying to come up with my own set of rules. I didn't start completely from scratch and there's still quite a lot from the original challenge in there. It's also not playtested yet, and ( Read more... )

I'm currently printing these rules, and am using the time to consider ways to allow fire alarms. I guess it could be tied into the Law Enforcement career and a fire department could be additionally built for another $30,000 although a more morbid thought was that the town might cry out for one when a resident dies in a fire.

Hmmm that could work indeed :) Not that I want my Simmies to die in a fire, but it'd stress the importance of fire prevention I guess... Linking it to Law Enforcement would make sense as well, maybe if a Sim in that career (not the first one) has extinguished 3 fires himself or something and learns fire prevention, they can start up a fire station?

Ooh, I forgot about learning fire prevention. Maybe the second person to become a Captain Hero could learn it and open a fire station. I must admit I've never had much luck getting my Sims to put out fires and live to tell the tale, let alone three! :(

They get better at managing it when you let them learn fire prevention - they actually put out the fires instead of running around like headless chickens :)
All depends on the difficulty level you want to play with, I guess. I'm thinking that fire prevention is rather important, and should therefore be unlocked fairly early on, but if you prefer some level of danger for a bit longer, the second Cpt Hero thing works, too :) I think I'll go with the fire prevention + extinguish 3 fires + build firestation one. It'd require electricity to be unlocked as well, obviously.

That makes a lot of sense, I'm so use to using fire alarms that I only get them to learn fire prevention to fulfill a want. I agree with it's living dangerously to wait that long, so I think I'll go with your system ;D

I also meant to say that I like the system you set out for randomising the families. Although I think my dice was loaded, it's just not right to have that many pleasure sims!

Ouch, I feel for you! I only have one Pleasure Sim and she's rather hard to keep happy without any of the luxuries most Sims are used to.
