So, apparently recessions bring out the creativity in us all. According to
this article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, fiction writing, particularly within the confines of a writing group, soars when the economy tanks. Who knew? I guess there's a certain escapist tendency floating around. Of course,
candy sales are up, too. I'm not sure what this says about our society as a whole, but I'm kind of amused.
A few quick announcements. Our Book in a Nutshell competition is in full swing. Entries are already pouring in. If you want more details, or have questions, check out the
contest thread at the TKA blog for more information. Please read through the comments before you ask your questions, however, as they might already have been answered on the thread.
Also, we're celebrating YA Spring Break over at the
TKA blog next week. A different YA author will be guest blogging each day, including Monica McKayhan, Shannon Greenland, Lucienne Diver, Diana Peterfreund, and Rachel Caine. Among other things, our guests will be discussing the different classic character types that commonly appear in YA literature. Rumor has it there will also be some prizes given away, so be sure to check in each day to see what's up!
Happy weekend, everyone!
