Kickin' Off the New Year

Happy New Year to all, and I hope everyone had fun over the holidays. I realize I'm a bit late with my wishes, but I contracted some sort of holiday plague while visiting my family, which was then made worse by my plane flights back west, and so only now have I felt cheery enough to extend well wishes. Or, you know, not cough and hack all over my ( Read more... )

Hi Nephele,

I hope you feel better soon! I always seem to get some hacking cough or lose my voice or get a head cold so I can't smell or taste all the great food around the holidays. Happens like clockwork every year and it's just not fair! :-) This year I'd recovered just in time, but my baby (well, he's 5, still a baby to me) got scarlet fever on Christmas Eve. Poor thing. He made it through like a trooper, though. :-)

I gave more books than I got from other people (my husband can read a book an hour, hard to keep that man in books so they make the perfect gift), but I did buy a bunch for myself before the holidays and kept them in the shopping bag so I could pretend like they were a gift to me. LOL!

Right now I'm trying to finish all my Shirley Jump books. I love her books, but I'm such a slow reader and she's so prolific (bless her little writing heart!) that my TBR pile is well, piling up!

And I mean UP! It's gone from the bookshelf out onto the floor now. Little stacks appearing everwhere. My husband just shakes his head. :-) After Shirley's books I need to tackle my pile of Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregors. I'm dying to read the new Lords of Avalon book!

AND I bought the two latest Stephen King books for my husband so I want to read those too AND I got him some other thrillers that I'd like to read too. (And I still haven't found time to read The Davinci Code like everyone else in the world, so it gathers dust on my bookshelf...)

Just too many books and SO LITTLE TIME!

Take care, Nephele.

Cathy

Thanks, Cathy. But your poor son! I remember having scarlet fever for my sixth birthday, and I was miserable. I'm glad he's feeling better. Kids shouldn't be allowed to get sick on the holidays, it's so unfair.

I envy your husband's speedy reading time. If I could read faster, I'd get so much more done. Alas, I'll just continue to plod along and hope practice makes for improvement.
