the big push

Jan 14, 2006 09:06

This is my work equivalent of new year's resolutions, I suppose, and it has a great deal to do with having spent a few days in the company of my coworkers in Georgia. It was wonderful to have people right there in front of me to bounce ideas off of, and also to just talk about books and writing and publishing and where we'd all like to see things go for the agency in the next twelve months. And of course, for our clients. I won't bore you with numbers goals here, as they don't mean much out of context, but on a personal note, I'm planning to focus my list more and to concentrate particularly on the genres that I both love and feel are selling especially well. This isn't going to affect submissions guidelines so much as what I as an agent take on from the pile.

The big push refers to the next week or so when I plan to plow through some of my submissions backlog. I deliberately have not been requesting many completes in the last month or so, in part because I've read very little that really grabbed me, and in part because I was aware that the holidays were going to put me even farther behind in my reading. It's time to fix that, so it's safe to say that if you've been waiting several months for comments from me, you should be hearing back by the end of the month. I'll probably be a bit scarce on LJ as a result, so my apologies up front. Happy writing!
