So I've been dragged about to the end of my usefulness lately. I'm working 20-25 hours a week, in class 12 hours a week, and trying to keep up on homework. Thankfully the wedding is over, so I have to cram a little less in a day, but now my mom wants me to make quilts. I've never quilted a day in my life, so this should be entertaining. And she wants them ASAP. But she wants me to do well in school too. Ugh!
In other news, I got myself to a OB-Gyn. I've been having a lot of random and not so fun pains, always in the same location, but varying degrees of how bad it hurts. So I took myself to the doctor, and in the process, had a full annual checkup. She told me I have one of two things most likely. An ovarian cyst, or a hernia. Without thinking about it, I spent a couple hours last week unloading a truck at work. Roughly I lifted about 60 boxes at 30 pounds each. And never had a problem with the pain spot. The doctor agrees with me that it's probably not a hernia. So now I have to go for an ultrasound. D'ya know a pelvic ultrasound costs $515 and if they don't find anything and have to do an intravaginal ultrasound it's an additional $315. Oh, and she wants me to go in for a mammogram ($175) and a breast ultrasound ($390) because of a "small irregularity" she found in my left breast which has been there since time out of mind, has done nothing, and wasn't found in the mammogram I had 3 years ago (so probably won't be found now). Potential total? Over $1400 because did I mention that there's a reading fee for all of these tests? No one who does the test can read it themselves, they have to send it off to another company that does nothing but read these things.
WHEN THE HELL DID DOCTORS BECOME SO FNUCKIG SPECIALIZED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ THE RESULTS ON AN ULTRASOUND!!! IT'S A PICTURE FOR CHRISSAKES, OPEN YOUR EYES!!!
God knows I don't want to have to fritter away my life savings to find out it's nothing. Personally I think the ultrasound should cost about $100 at the most, since it's really not that difficult to do and doesn't involve dealing with potentially hazardous bodily fluids, and then the doctor should be proficient enough in his profession to read it himself, and tell you right there in the room what the pretty picture means. This crap about upwards of $1400 to find out if I'm healthy is recockulous. Oh, did I mention I don't have insurance yet?
In good news, all the other standard tests came back, and I'm right where I should be, no infection, no weirdness.
So, other than all the anti-medical profession ranty goodness, I'm mostly ok. Just exhausted a lot, trying to keep on top of things, because I want my degree. So far so good, I'm doing well in my classes. Got a few tests coming up in the next 2 weeks, one in Anthropology, one in History, but I should be all set for both. Anthro is a take home test anyway, and I have a week to complete it, so I should have absolutely no problems there.
In the meantime, I'll be around, feel free to give me a call, drop me an email, or whatever, because as busy as I am, I still have time to hang out, and would love to see you.
