Summary: Almost all senior high school students in SM High want to find their true love before their final year ends and Lee Hyukjae is one of them. Can she find hers when almost all guys in school are already taken?
Donghae couldn't describe what he was feeling but all he knows is it's a very very good feeling- more than what he felt when he won the MVP Award last soccer tournament. If only he had it recorded in his camera, he would replay the scene over and over again. He was not expecting that sudden revelation because he thought the redhead isn't interested in him. Who would've thought the feeling was mutual. Now all he needs to do is to confess his feelings for her but because of his well- known playboy image, he needs to do it the right way, meaning, he has to befriend her first, gain her trust and the rest is history. Easier said than done but he's gonna be patient. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that he wouldn't let go, ever.
"So... hyung what are you planning to do now that you know she likes you... which I already knew beforehand, hahaha." Kyuhyun asked while playing with his PSP and munching on the kimbap his girlfriend made for him. He's already eaten 3 rolls and he just can't get enough of his bunny's cooking.
"Oh shut it Cho! You don't need to brag about that... and I already know so can you just sto- HEY! why are you eating my share?! Sungmin noona said I get 1 roll!" Donghae cried as he took the now empty lunch box pouting because he can feel his stomach growling from hunger.
Kyuhyun, being the naughty boy that he is, continued eating Donghae's share emphasizing how delicious it was. "Why don't you just buy food from the cafeteria, I'm sure she's there with my Minnie and the others. Perhaps you should start hanging out with them, especially Hangeng hyung, if you know what I mean." Kyuhyun shrugged as he now finished the kimbap roll returning to his game.
"Yeah yeah I know what you mean. I should go and start with that. I just hope she won't misunderstand my intentions." Donghae replied standing up from his desk by the window of the classroom. He was about to leave when he remembered something. "Ohhh... I almost forgot, I should thank Sungmin noona for that delicious kimbap that was supposed to be mine, and I should tell her that her Kyubear is planning something for her this coming Prom Night... a head's up will be nice don't you think? See you later Cho!" Donghae smirked knowing that he just made he maknae guilty and scared that his plan will be spilled as he continued walking down the hallway to the cafeteria not even sparing a glance at the fangirls that were swooning all over him Sorry girls, but I'm taken... Well, technically... Lee Hyukjae, here I come.
"Oh shit! YAH! DONGHAE HYUNG!!! YOU WON'T DARE DO THAT!!! URGH... BABO KYUHYUN! HYUNG WAIT UP!" Kyuhyun ran towards the direction of the cafeteria hoping that his fish hyung wouldn't spill the beans, not even giving a damn about his game. He can deal with that later. Right now, he has to stop his hyung from talking to his bunny.
---
"Hyukjae, please be my date for the Prom." A tall man asked as he helped the said girl put the books back from the shelves. He's been trying to ask the redhead out for weeks now but she keeps on refusing him without any reason. But he's not gonna give up on her.
"I'm sorry Siwon-ah but I refuse your offer. I'm not even going to the prom." Hyukjae flashed an apologetic smile hoping that she didn't hurt his feelings. He's been asking her lots of times already but she just doesn't have the heart to accept it. Call her stupid but she's still hoping that Donghae will be her date and after her conversation with Sungmin, she decided to somehow confess to the playboy by befriending him first. She's not ready to be rejected yet so she's gonna take things slow and do it the right way without being too pushy or slutty as what her Heechul unnie always says.
"How could you not go? It only happens once in our lives. And I'm sure that you'll look great and might end up as the Prom Queen." Siwon reasoned out hoping that Hyukjae will reconsider.
"You know I'm not after those things Siwon. I'll be fine, don't worry but thanks for the offer and I'll appreciate it if you stop asking me again because you know what my answer will be. I'm really sorry." Hyukjae smiled patting Siwon's shoulder before leaving the library and heading out to the cafeteria.

Donghae was humming as he walked down the stairs when he saw the red long strands of hair just passing by going to the same direction as he was. He stopped at his tracks and felt his heart automatically thumping hard inside his chest. He doesn't think he's going to be immune to the feeling whenever he sees the redhead even from afar. He can smell the lingering strawberry scented shampoo that she uses and he's getting addicted to it. Gaining his composure, he decided to head to the washroom to check if he looks good while readying himself for his plan.

The cafeteria was filled with so much noise making it difficult for some students to have a decent conversation with their circle of friends and one group in particular was the center of all the noise.
"Yah Kangin-ah!!! Shut up!! You're too loud.. I think my eardrums' are gonna break anytime soon!" Heechul glared at the mentioned guy making everybody from their table silent.
"But noona, it's Shindong's fault! Argh.. whatever." the big guy huffed and just sat down quietly beside his girlfriend who looked at him with pity but the latter assured her that he's fine.
On the other side of the table, Sungmin and Hyukjae just sat there eating quietly, they've been too busy with all the projects needed for their Chemistry class that they didn't even have enough time to hang out with their unnies and oppas, especially Sungmin who haven't seen her boyfriend. She feels so bad because she couldn't even go out on a date with Kyuhyun but she's thankful that the latter was very understanding with the situation and even offered help since her boyfriend is a genius after all. However, she rejected the offer because she doesn't want Hyukjae to feel uncomfortable.
Hyukjae is just munching on her turkey sandwich, thinking of ways she can talk or even introduce herself to Donghae. On her way to the cafeteria, she heard him humming as he descended the stairs, she was planning to greet him but her feet didn't agree because she ended up running to the cafeteria. She woke up from her thoughts when Sungmin patted her shoulder, "Hey, Hyukkie...you okay? Don't think too much about it okay? We have lots of time." Flashing a small smile, she nodded and continued eating her lunch.
"Hey hyungs... and noonas." a tired Kyuhyun asked while trying to catch his breath, "Have you guys seen Donghae hyung around here?" The young man was so tired from running that he had to grab his girlfriend's tumbler and drink from it not caring what's in it, "Hi Minnie... sorry I'm just really thirsty."
Heechul raised an eyebrow once she heard the guy's name coming from his stepbrother's lips, "And why...may I ask...are you looking for Donghae here? He doesn't even eat with us."
'Uh-oh... Stupid Kyu, Heechul noona might sense something... urgh..' regaining his composure, "Uhm... Well he said he was going to borrow something from Geng hyung, I don't know what it is... he just mentioned it." he shrugged hoping that his noona will not press any further. Hangeng, though surprised just went with the flow knowing that Kyuhyun will get in trouble if Heechul discovers he was lying and also because he can see Donghae near the cafeteria entrance. He knows something is up with those two boys so he's just going to help them, being the kind hyung that he is.
Hyukjae's senses became alert already when she heard hi name, she tried her best not to blush or give out any indication that she is interested with him because if Heechul sees her, her secret will be revealed sooner and all her plans will be put to waste. Making sure that nobody is looking at her, she looked around the cafeteria hoping to get a glimpse of the said man and much to her luck, there he was cooly walking towards their tables direction with a playful smile plastered on his handsome face.
'No Hyuk, now's not the time to blush. Everybody's here, they can't know about this yet' she turned around as she held Sungmin's hand, silently asking for help. Sungmin, being the fast one, handed her another bottle of strawberry milk to distract the redhead. Hyukjae thankfully accepted the strawberry milk inserting the straw and drinking it to calm her nerves down. She almost choked on her drink when she heard that voice a few centimeters behind her.
"Hi everyone... errr..." Donghae muttered massaging his nape, "Uhm... Sungmin noona, can I borrow Kyuhyun for a moment? Oh and Hangeng hyung, did you receive my message? I'll just pick 'it' up later. Thanks!" he continued as he dragged his buddy away from the group's table.
Everyone was now staring at Hangeng, so fetched his phone out from his pocket to check on the message, and seeing Donghae's name on it, he excused himself from the group making sure his girlfriend won't take a peek. Once he was a few feet away from them, he opened the message that read:
Geng hyung!!! I need ur help...u see, uhm, how should I say this?! I like sum1,& she's in ur group...
Bet u know who she is, cuz she's d only 1 left who is currently single... Can u do me a very big favor? Can u...uhm...introduce me 2 her after soccer practice tomorrow? pls DO NOT tell heechul noona, she'll kill me even b4 i get 2 talk 2 hyukjae... PUUUHLLLEAAASSSEEEE HYUUUUUUUNG!!! TT0TT... i'll do anything u ask me 2...
Laughing out loud with the message, he quickly replied with a 'Sure, no prob! Just make sure u b a good boy or I'll grill u myself, arasso?!' and erased the younger's message immediately before Heechul approached him asking what it was all about. He just said it was about one of their teammates getting Donghae's uniform stained by 'you-know-what' in the locker room so the poor boy is borrowing his extra set of uniform. Heechul just shrugged finding it uninteresting and went back to the table bringing him with her.

The next day...
"Minnie, what's up with Kyuhyun and Donghae, they seem to be together most of the time don't you think?" Hyukjae whispered to her best friend as they entered the washroom to do their business. Hyukjae had to keep quiet just in case somebody hears them. She can't risk being the center of attention in the campus for liking THE Lee Donghae. She couldn't get her mind off what she saw yesterday at the cafeteria. That was the first time Donghae came to their table and call her insane but that manly, sexy, bone- chilling voice is still registered in her brain and ears like a recorded audio being played over and over again.
"I don't know Hyukkie... want me to ask him?" Sungmin inquired making the redhead blush. She can see the hesitation on her best friend's eyes so she decided to ask her again in a way that won't make her insecure, "I mean... Kyu's very open to those things, I can ask him about Donghae for you... or I can ask Donghae himself, he often comes with Kyunnie when he fetches me after school. He seems like a nice guy that I even ask Kyunnie to give him 1 roll of my kimbap yesterday."
"WHAT?! Why didn't you tell me you gave him food, I should've done that for him... urgh! I hate that I can't even stay after school to get a glimpse of him again. Stupid ride! If only my brother let's me go home by myself since I am a big girl now, and I'm 18 for Pete's sake!" Hyukjae pouted, a little upset that her best friend didn't even share that most important detail.
"I'm sorry Hyukkie, the kimbap was on the spot, I just told Kyunnie to share one to Donghae." Sungmin replied, washing her hands while looking at Hyukjae's expression on the mirror. "Oh! about that, I can sense that Donghae likes you back."
The redhead's eyes widened when she heard what the blonde girl just said. That must've been the most ridiculous thing she had heard. "Minnie!! Don't give me false hopes here... I'm getting frustrated day by day because of him... Why did I even like him in the first place?!" She huffed resting her elbows on the sink and placing her chin on her palms.
"Nothing's wrong with that, it just happened. You can't control it... and why will I give you false hopes? Everytime Kyunnie picks me up from my last class, Donghae's always there with him and he scans the room as if he's looking for someone... Almost all the girls from my class were his ex- girlfriends but he doesn't even entertain them nor talk to them, and as my Kyunnie always says when answering multiple choice exams, I eliminated those girls and it all comes down to you." Hyukjae was listening intently at the blonde.
Sungmin continued, "He always end up disappointed and sad at the end of the day and whines at my boyfriend saying, 'We should've gone earlier blah blah blah...' and tell me who's the only girl from our class who leaves early?"
"But that doesn't explain your hypothesis..." Hyukjae reasoned out.
"Oh don't be so pessimistic, you monkey! Just accept the fact, having little hope is better than no hope at all." the blonde replied knocking some sense to her friend.
"I don't know Minnie, but I guess I can hold on to that." Hyukjae smiled as they are now heading to the gate for Hyukjae's ride home. They were almost outside when a tall man called Hyukjae's name, gaining the two women's attention. They turned to the direction of the guy seeing that it was Hangeng. They waved at him and Hangeng jogged to their direction holding a soccer ball.
"Hi Sungmin, hey Hyuk, your brother called me... he told me that he won't be able to pick you up 'cause something came up at his work... he asked me to give you a ride home from today onwards, but since I still have soccer practice could you wait for me until we're done? I'm really sorry, if I had known earlier I would've cancelled practice since you always go home early." the older asked hoping that Hyukjae will buy it. Hangeng is very close with Hyukjae's brother because he works for his dad's company so he told him that he'll take Hyukjae home from today onwards so that he doesn't have to rush through traffic to reach the school early, which Hyukjae's brother thankfully agreed since he trusts the latter very much. As for the soccer practice, he can cancel it anytime he wants but since someone asked him a very big favor, he made sure that their plan will work without lying too much.
Hyukjae and Sungmin looked at each other, surprised with what happened. She thought that her brother was very strict with what time she has to get home and he would've called her instead of telling Hangeng. Don't get her wrong, she knows the Chinese man very well since he is a good friend with her brother but this was unexpected... who was she to complain though. When she heard the word 'soccer practice' only one thing or should I say person came to her mind, Donghae.
"Oh it's okay oppa, I'll just wait for you at the field then, it's okay if we watch right?"
"Of course not, I will appreciate it if we have some cheerleaders there." Hangeng teased as he saw the blushing faces of the two girls, "and Kyuhyun is actually there too, right Sungmin?"
The blonde nodded muttering, "Let's go Hyukkie!" with a sly smile on her face while dragging the quiet redhead with her to the direction of the soccer field following Hangeng, not noticing the playful smirk on the man's face as he rotated the soccer ball on his index finger.
