Booyah! Free money!

So I was getting ready to leave work this morning when the boss calls to let me know that Kara has the day off and the Phoneix guy that was supposed to cover called in sick. REsult? Nobody working today. That just will not do, someone has to working.

So Teresa asked if I would be willing to stay a little late. No problem, at the end of my long work week, becuase I have logged over 44 hours for the week, any overtime is actually doubletime. So by stayoing until 8:30 I earned 1.5 hours of overtime and get paid for 3.

Wait, that's not the best part.

So now somebody has to work and nobody can (including me because I'm tired) so I offered to pull emergency on call duty.

"Would you really be willing to do that?" The boss says?

Sure, I'll take one for the team (and some doubletime to boot). Now heres the rules to on call duty. I take cell phone and a laptop and if there is an emergency in the fab (which any issue in the fab is an emergency, but there is usually few issues on Sunday) they'll call me and I log in and fix it. Unfortunately (okay so not really) the office laptop is broken so I can't log in. That's one thing down, now if anyone calls I just call someone else and have them fix it (but I still get paid).

On call works in four hour blocks, any call gains me four hours pay, any second call in that 4 hour block gets me nothing, but another call in a later 4 hour block gets me another 4 hours.

There was one call, and all I had to do was answer the phone, write down what the problem was and call someone else to make her fix it. Boom! 4 hours pay! But since it was DOULETIME I'm going to get paid for 8 hours.

Remember that nice little 1.5 hour block earlier? Now we're looing at 11 hours total (a regular shift is 11.5). So because I was willing to stay late, and because I made one 2 minuted phone call I managed to rack up almost a full extra shift of overtime.

Booyah! Every now and then, EVERY NOW AND THEN, this job has its perks.
