Persona 3
I just beat Persona 3 FES, both episodes.
MASSIVE spoilers, read if you want... or avoid if you don't. ;P
I am so unbelievably pissed off. The game was wonderful and I was greatly enjoying it until I got to the ending.
I wanted to choose the door, damn it! I wanted to save the main character instead of having his soul spend eternity guarding Nyx! Hell, the malice crap wouldn't even really WORK as if all it took was that, then Nyx woulda come centuries before during any of the dark times in human history. The Holocaust, the Dark Ages... you'd better believe the Bubonic Plague would've caused a lot more negative emotions than Apathy Syndrome. Especially considering people recover from Apathy Syndrome no worse for wear and even returning to their normal lives, while surviving the Bubonic Plague left you scarred!
The only reason Nyx was summoned that time was because of what the crazy bastards encouraging the Shadows and spreading their rumors in order to terrorize the population. It seems to suggest that while humans have a certain amount of malice, the insane Kirijo former patriarch and Ikutsuki pushed it up and beyond the normal limits thanks to their plans. So that'd mean the taint would disappear! In other words, it wasn't a natural enemy - it was one orchestrated and wouldn't have naturally occurred! And even then, all of that should have been forgotten since it was associated with the Dark Hour! The Shadows, the Apathy Syndrome, even the memories of Nyx would have disappeared - meaning, the desire to be destroyed would have gone back to the natural levels - levels that hadn't summoned Nyx since the dawn of humanity. Meaning, that creature attacking the seal would not have been revived! The main character's sacrifice was pointless.
And yet all the other characters just completely accepted it! GAH!
