I truly appreciate the comments that were posted on my previous entry. In fact, I was hoping to get a lot more point of views and longer discussions, but thanks Justin and Corey! Also, by no means am I trying to change anyone’s beliefs but merely to study the subject from all its perspectives. I too have diverse points both for and against gay ( Read more... )

Part 2: The Last post from Corey on this issue anonymous July 13 2005, 06:20:20 UTC
I, being a devout Christian, believe what the Bible says is true, period. I don't need to go and find out what 100 other people think about the issue, because their opinion isn't important when it comes to obeying God. Once I start taking other peoples opinions to consider whether I believe something or not, I begin to compromise my own beliefs and therefore start to abandon my morals. When I became a Christian, I put aside my own opinions and beliefs, and I took up the Bible as my standard to judge how I think and act on issues in the world. I'm coming at this issue from a purely Biblical standpoint. Because when I gave my life to Christ, I decided to put all of my trust in Him and that what He says is truth. His Word is Truth.

I understand your frustration about why would a God like that put all of us through hell. The fact is He didn't put us through this, we put ourselves through it. God gave man the power of choice because He wanted us to love Him and follow Him out of our own free will. And to tell you the truth, I would rather have this, than to have a paradise where there was no free will. Then we would all just be robots, programmed to do what we were told to do. He died for us because He wanted to show us that He loves us, and because we were so lost in our sin that we needed to be redeemed. "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." John 15:13
As a Christian you have to rely on faith. (Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1) Either you believe what God said in His word or you don't, simple as that. The fact is homosexuality is a moral issue. So as a follower of Christ, why would I need to look at any other source than the Bible? I understand you're wanting to write a paper discussing both sides of the arguement. However, when it comes to such issues, especially moral issues that effect the American family, the Bible should be the only standard and therefore the only side of the arguement.

If you'd like, I can talk to my brother in law who goes to Dallas Theological Seminary and he actually knows how to read and interpret Greek and Hebrew. I'll show him you're site. But I want to leave you with something. It's ok to ask questions, but when we see that the Bible specifically says that something is a sin, as believers we have to believe it and abide by it. If we don't stand for something, we'll fall for anything. Also, be very careful where you get your "sources" from, because there is alot of crap out there on the internet that hasn't been verified.

As I said, this is my last comment on this issue. Arguements like these just make me upset because as a people, we have gotten so corrupt and as a nation we have pushed God out, and now we want to make our sins and perverse ways legalized and socially acceptable. It truely is sad that so many people have abandoned their morals because of the pressures of society. And so now, we as students are forced to present "both sides of the issue" in order to get a passing grade on a paper. Well to tell you the truth, if they tell me I have to write a paper on this subject, I'm only giving them one arguement. Regardless of what other people say, the fact is this, God said homosexuality is sin, it is perverse, and an abomination. That's my Biblical moral stance on this subject and it will never change. As a Christian I can't be "open minded or objective", because that's what Satan wants us to do. That's how he corrupts people and gets them to abandon their morals. Homosexuals need to repent and call what they're doing exactly what it is, SIN! Just like lying, stealing, murder, or adultery. If they don't truely admit that act is a sin, they can never be helped.
