Another Random Tactics Note
In case anybody else was wondering, none of the FMVs depict Ramza wearing the outfit with the ass pants--he's got one outfit for the ones in Chapter 1, and another (basically his chapter 2/3 outfit with the dark spiked armor) for the rest of the game, as far as I can tell.
Pity.
Some combination of levelling up for speed and rediscovering that Chameleon Robes cancel KO enabled me to beat down Elmdor. Well, that and lots (50?) of X-Potions and some luck getting past the 70% Blade Grasp.
