Toile #1

For the past 2 weeks I have been working on the first toile of the patent I decided on for the Foundations Revealed DPP 2011. Here is a link if you fancy a gander

This is the first time I have used a patent as the basis for a corset so I have just had a jolly good go!

These are the things I know;

The centre front will be a straight vertical line

The centre back will be a straight vertical line

The waist seem will be a straight horizontal line which joins the centre back and centre front.

This is my framework.

I have then tried to position the bust and back gores correctly. I'm still not quite there. This is my first try at bust gores and they are tricky buggers! I am persevering as they do improve marginally each time I try. (The tutorial on Foundations Revealed by Laura Loft is the biz.) Getting them perfect will hopefully eliminate some of the wrinkling. I am also dangerously close to boob overspill at the front!

I then fitted the bottom side seems to be snug but allow some movement (it's nice to walk!).

The construction of my next toile will be done as I intend the finished corset to be. This one is a bit of a mish mash as I tried to fit it from the framework seams once it was put together.

So plan from toile #2 is

Construct it as I will the final piece

Insert the bust and back gores perfectly!

Tweak the fitting around the top to eliminate boob overspill.

Anyways, here are a few poor quality pictures. It's a dull day here on the south coast and I have technical restrictions. :0)
